The University of San Carlos in partnership with Aletheia University and Cebu Normal

University will hold the 8 th Taiwan-Philippines International Academic Conference on

April 7 – 8, 2016 at the Michael Richartz Center, University of San Carlos, Talamban

Campus, Cebu, Philippines. The theme for this year’s conference is Social

Entrepreneurship: Driver for Nation Building.

Likened to a propeller, Social Entrepreneurship has driven businesses to be socially responsive while engaged in the creation, management and distribution of wealth in various economies.

The conference provides an international opportunity for scientific discussion and collaboration on Social Entrepreneurship as a driver for nation building. This call welcomes all papers and posters on the following research streams.

PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Submission of Abstract:

• Abstracts for paper or poster presentations must contain a brief introductory statement, the summary of the results obtained, followed by the paper’s conclusions of the research.

• Abstracts must not exceed 500 words.

• Submissions must clearly indicate the full name(s) of the author(s), their institutional affiliation, and the email address of the corresponding author.

• Key words should clearly indicate the topic of research so that relevant reviewers can be appointed.

• Submit abstract to 8taiwanphil@gmail.com

on or before February 6, 2016.

• Authors will be notified of abstract acceptance by February 15, 2016.

• If the abstract of the paper is accepted, the author has until March 7, 2016 to submit the final manuscript, which will be published in the conference proceedings.

• The final manuscript must not exceed 7,500 words including tables, figures and references. If the paper is not submitted by the said date, only the abstract will be included in the proceedings.

• Full paper submissions must be on letter paper (8.5”x11” or 216x279 mm), with double spaced text, with font type - Times New Roman, font size - 12 points, and must not exceed

7,500 words.

• Please follow the format prescribed by the American Psychological Association (APA) for citations, references, headings, tables, and figures [http://www.apastyle.org/].

• Standard abbreviations should be used throughout the text. Any special or unusual abbreviation should be spelled out in full at first mention, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses.

Peer Review and Publication:

• Papers submitted for presentation at the research conference must not have been previously published in a journal or a book. These will be included in the conference proceedings.

• Selected papers will be considered for publication in a special issue of the DEVOTIO Journal of Business and Economics Studies, a refereed journal of the School of Business and

Economics published by the University of San Carlos. At the time of submission, please indicate whether you wish your paper to be considered for publication in the special issue of

DEVOTIO.

• After going through the journal’s peer review process, papers that meet the editorial standards of DEVOTIO will be included in the special issue.

Sessions in Chinese Language:

We welcome paper presentations done in Chinese language. There will be special sessions for these participants with simultaneous English translations to facilitate discussion.
