1 ‐ Year Professional Certificate Program for Athletes and National Federation Staff
San Juan – FIBA Americas, Ryerson University of Toronto, Canada, and its Ted Rogers School of Management, announce the beginning of the registration process for this first session of the University Certificate on
Management. Registration began on 15 June 2011, and will end on 1 August.
The Certificate is based in a series of educational blocks and it is 100% online, which will greatly facilitate the participation of those interested, which spans for a year. It is focused in the areas of management and marketing for athletes, and leadership and management for the staff of our national federations and players in general.
"We have been noticing that an increasing number of our basketball players are leaving school to focus on the sport, and we developed an online educational program in which any basketball player can have the opportunity to be educated. Since they don't have to be there, it gives them a chance to study while playing basketball and end up with a certificate from a prestigious university like Ryerson.", said Horacio Muratore, FIBA Americas president.
All courses will be available in both English and Spanish, and professors from Ryerson will be supervising them.
Each course costs 300 USD for members of the FIBA Americas family (National Confederations and
Federations, and those players registered in each national federation). The cost of this kind of certificate for a non-FIBA America’s person is 1,200 USD.
