Course Description:
This course is a study of the federal constitution: the organization and administration of the federal system; political
participation by the individual, and the principles which underlie American democracy.
Course Expectations:
I expect this course to be taken seriously along with the rest of your courses. I expect as much effort to be placed into
your course work as possible as your score will reflect that effort. You are responsible for information and notes even in
the event of your absence. Lastly, I expect you to communicate any difficulties or concerns you are having that may
affect your course work or final grade.
Classroom Policies:
1. Cell phones and other electronic devices are to be turned off and put away before class.
2. Students are responsible for textbooks, handouts, notes, videos and all other class materials regardless of
attendance.
3. Missed exams must be accompanied by proper documentation in order to reschedule. Make-up exams will
consist of 3 essay questions only.
4. The use of tobacco products are prohibited in the classroom.

Final Exam 50% (July 2)
The final exam will cover units 1 thru 4 and will be in essay format. The final exam will cover the material in your
readings and lecture. You will be given the essay prompts before the final exam date to prepare for the final. The final
exam will not be graded on a curve.
Quizzes 50% (collectively)
Quizzes will be given at the end of a section over the assigned readings. Quizzes will consists of 10 multiple choice
questions and will be given at the end of the class period. Quizzes cannot be made up or rescheduled, however you will
be allowed to drop a maximum of 3 quiz grades at the end of the course.
