Atelier CMS inc., producer of ART INSIDE THE PARK, and Linn Sate
Technical College introduce the 2007 statewide art education competition
— Missouri WILDflowers! Ten student artworks will be selected by a
juried panel to become part of a lasting public art exhibit.
Thousands of visitors pass through the capitol city each day to tour the
historic buildings and grounds. Imagine their look of delight and surprise
when Jefferson City sprouts giant WILDflowers created by Missouri
students and reproduced in three-dimensional supersize by Atelier and
Linn State! Professional artists, faculty and students will fabricate the
winning flowers into sculpture using welding, torches, plasma cutting and
painting in the industrial arts studios. The WILDflowers will remain on
public view for at least a year!
TEACHER LESSON PLAN
YOUR PARTICIPATION IS SOUGHT!
When to get started and Who can participate?
We know it gets wild at the end of the school year and we invite you to get even wilder with a very focused project. All grade levels are
invited to participate. This is also a great activity for a starting summer school session or special class. The competition combines art
history and plant science to produce student WILDflower drawings based on Missouri native flowers.
How to get started in your classroom?
Using the websites provided, teachers will introduce Master Artists from the various movements in art history who represent distinct
styles. After the student picks their favorite artist and becomes familiar with their style, introduce our selected Missouri Wildflowers from
the Missouri Grow Native website (www.grownative.org).
