Paralegal Diploma Graduates Trained in LEAP

the course syllabus at the Temasek Polytechnic’s Law &

Can I send time entries and cost recovery items to Excel?
Yes, you can print information from the Time / Cost Recoveries
screen for any matter directly to Excel - Simply hit the PRINT icon,
and the option to “Send to Excel” will be displayed.
How do I write-off a disbursement?
You can very easily write-off disbursements with
one click 1. Open the office ledger for the matter
2. Right click on the disbursement you wish to
write-off
3. Select 'Write Off'
4. Record the disbursement journal created
QUESTION:
How do I find out if amendments have
been made to a time or cost recovery slip?
LEAP Accounting keeps an alterations log for
each time and cost recovery slip. To find out if
amendments have been made after the initial
recording, simply access the alterations log by:
1. Open time/cost recovery slip
2. Go to "Slip" tab on top of screen
3. Select "Alterations Log"
The log of all changes / amendments / alterations
will be displayed.
QUESTION:
We do not charge GST for services rendered to non-resident clients.
How do we ensure our invoices to the client is non-GST?
This is a setting at the MATTER level in LEAP Accounting:
1. Open the matter screen for the relevant client
2. Click on the ‘Financial Summary' tab on the matter screen
3. Under ‘Estimated Costs’, check the 'Fees are Tax Free' box
This will ensure that all time recorded against this matter will be input as GST Free.
To revise the GST-Free setting, simply return to the 'Financial Summary' tab and un-check the 'Fees are Tax Free' box.

USEFUL TIP: Did you know that you can convert
Word documents to PDF using LEAP Docs?
You don't need to install adobe acrobat or any PDF converter software,
LEAP Docs will do it for you.
Steps to convert Word documents to PDF in LEAP Docs 1. Select the Matter. In the list of documents for that Matter, select the document you wish to convert to PDF
2. If more than one document, select them all by holding down the Ctrl key while making the selection.
3. Click on the Email/Fax/Save As button on the bottom LEAP toolbar
3. Select "Convert Document (s) to PDF" tab
4. Input the name of the new PDF document. 5. Click on CREATE
USEFUL TIP:
If you have a document in your C: Drive which properly belongs to a Matter in LEAP; you can easily ADD the document to the specific Matter folder in LEAP by taking
these steps 1. Open the selected Matter in LEAP Documents
2. Click on MATTER on the LEAP Toolbar
3. Select "Add Documents"
4. Your default C-Drive folders will display.
5. Select the document you wish to add and click OPEN
6. The document you selected is now included in the document folder for that
matter.
Error message 10002
When you try to start up either Leap Docs or Leap Accounting.
If you receive error message 10002 a likely cause is that the LEAP Server failed to start up properly. Please take the following steps to manually startup the Leap Docs or LEAP Accounting Server
1. At the Server desktop, double click on “STOP LEAP Documents / LEAP Accounting 2003 Services” icon.
2. Wait 5 minutes. Now double click on “START Leap Documents / LEAP Accounting
2003 Services” icon.
If taking these steps does not resolve the issue, you may have to reboot your server.
However, we do not recommend that you do this without technical support, as certain precautionary routines should be established when you shut down a server.
