Section A Introduction
Scope
The Eldridge Products, Inc. Series 8000 Master-Touch mass flow meters Revision 1 is HART Protocol
Revision 6.0. enabled. This document specifies all the device specific features and documents the
HART Protocol enabled details. The functionality of this Field Device is described sufficiently to
allow its proper application and its support in HART capable Master Applications.
At this time EPI does not provide a Device Description (DD) file. A DD is not required for
communication with HART-enabled devices. It is an optional enabling element of HART
technology
Purpose
This specification is designed to compliment other Series 8000MP and 8000MPNH Master-Touch
documentation by providing a complete description of this Field Device from a HART Enabled
communication perspective.
Document Use
This specification is designed to be a technical reference for HART-enabled Master Application
Developers, System Integrators and knowledgeable End Users. It also provides functional
specifications used during Field Device development, maintenance and testing. This document
assumes the reader is familiar with HART Protocol requirements and terminology. For information
concerning the functions of the Master-Touch flowmeters, please see the Master-Touch Instruction
Manual.

See Note 1
Note 1: The first digit of the EPI serial number was dropped to create the HART Device ID. For
Example: 25051003 will become 5051003.
The tag, long tag, message, date, descriptor, polling address, and final assembly numbers are set to 0
at default. These values are stored in EEProm and changeable via HART commands. When changing
items such as the polling address, the old address is used to send the response data. At the
subsequent command the new address would be used.
