Series 8000 Master-Touch mass flow meters Revision 1 is HART Protocol Revision 6.0. enabled. This document specifies all the device specific features and documents the HART Protocol enabled details. The functionality of this Field Device is described sufficiently to allow its proper application and its support in HART capable Master Applications. At this time EPI does not provide a Device Description (DD) file. A DD is not required for communication with HART-enabled devices. It is an optional enabling element of HART technology Purpose This specification is designed to compliment other Series 8000MP and 8000MPNH Master-Touch documentation by providing a complete description of this Field Device from a HART Enabled communication perspective. Document Use This specification is designed to be a technical reference for HART-enabled Master Application Developers, System Integrators and knowledgeable End Users. It also provides functional specifications used during Field Device development, maintenance and testing. This document assumes the reader is familiar with HART Protocol requirements and terminology. For information concerning the functions of the Master-Touch flowmeters, please see the Master-Touch Instruction Manual. Device Identification Manufacturer Name: Eldridge Products, Inc. Model Name(s): Series 8000 Manufacturer ID Code: 240 Device Type Code: 128 HART Protocol Revision: 6.0 Device Revision: 1 Number of Device Variables: 2 Software Revision: 1 Physical Layer Supported: FSK Hardware Revision: 1 Default Polling Address 0 Device ID: See Note 1 Note 1: The first digit of the EPI serial number was dropped to create the HART Device ID. For Example: 25051003 will become 5051003. The tag, long tag, message, date, descriptor, polling address, and final assembly numbers are set to 0 at default. These values are stored in EEProm and changeable via HART commands. When changing items such as the polling address, the old address is used to send the response data. At the subsequent command the new address would be used. ELDRIDGE PRODUCTS, INC. 80202101 (Rev. 1.6) Page A–1 Section B Product Overview The Series 8000 mass flowmeters provide a HART two-wire 4–20mA current loop output. Device Variables Device Variable Variable Code Description Primary 1 Flow Rate Secondary 2 Totalizer Tertiary None None Quaternary None None The Primary Variable is the Flow Rate value. The Units code is dependent on the customer specific requirements of the device. Please see the Master-Touch Instruction Manual for specifics regarding the Flow Rate. The Secondary Variable is the Totalizer. The units are dependent on the Flow Rate units. Please see the Master-Touch Instruction Manual for specifics regarding the Totalizer. Status Information When the field device is reset or powered on, the CS status will be reflected per the HART spec. Universal Commands This field device supports all the Universal Commands listed in HART 6.0 Specification. Commands 4, 5, and 10 are reserved per the HART spec and the field device will respond with a response code of 64 – Not Implemented Command 15’s damping value is set to 0 and has no meaning. Tag, Descriptor, Date, Long Tag, Message, Final Assembly Number are stored in EEProm as received from the Master. This device does not interrogate the data within these variables. This device does not support Write Protect mode. Common Practice Commands The following are the common practice commands supported by this field device. All other commands will receive a response code of 64 – Not Implemented Command 38 – Reset Configuration Changed Flag Support for both Primary and Secondary Masters Command 40 – Enter/Exit Fixed Current Mode Any value 4 =< Current Value <= 20 0 to exit Command 42 – Perform Device Reset Command 59 – Write Number of Response Preambles (Slave to Master) ELDRIDGE PRODUCTS, INC. 80202101 (Rev. 1.6) Page B–1 Master-TouchTM HART-Enabled Instruction Manual Factory setting is 5 preambles Burst Mode This Field Device does not support Burst Mode – contact factory.
