MUSICAL THEATER CRITIQUE OUTLINE For Dennon’s & Sayhber’s classes Assignment: See the Musical and write a 3 page; double spaced critique and summary following the guidelines below. Place your name, name of class including day and time in upper right hand corner. No separate title pages, please. The paper is due within one week of the performance date you attended. The report should be thoughtful and insightful as to your perspective in an essay form. Address the questions and statements in the following outline. Do not include Roman Numerals on your paper. Pay attention to spelling, grammar and logic of ideas. I Show Information A Have you seen this show before? If so where? Did you know the plot line? B. Name of musical and brief description of the plot line. (What’s it all about) C. The date, time and venue the performance took place. II Critical Statement about the Performance as a whole. A. Did you enjoy this show? B. Was the show well presented? Did the technical aspects (set changes, scenery changes, lighting, sound etc.) of the show go smoothly? C. Did the orchestra/musicians play well? Were you impressed, excited, thrilled by what you heard? D. How were the performers? Did the cast seem well rehearsed? Confident? Polished?
