Berlin The Split up of Berlin Berlin was split into 4 each of the pieces were owned by a different country These territories were owned by Russia, UK, France and the US The side owned by Russia was communist which became a big problem for the UK, France and the US The 4 zones The Berlin Airlift Russia cut off suplies to West Germany because the US, France and the UK decided to create a new currency into their sectors The US and the UK delivered food coal and medical supplies to Germany and secured the territory from Soviet control Crossing Border Many people living in the east wanted to cross over to the west because they needed jobs Also many people living in the west would cross the border so that they could get cheaper things. The Berlin Wall The soviets tried in many ways to keep citizens from fleeing the city half a million were fleeing back and forth each day Finally in 1961 the Soviets ended up putting up the Berlin wall to prevent people from hoping over The Berlin Wall Part 2 Many Germans continued to try and leave supported by the west in this Citizens grouped at the crossing points and forced them to put an end to the Berlin wall This allowed Germans to reunite with the rest of europe The Berlin Wall Part 3 The fall of the Berlin wall had a huge effect on the fall of communism In 1990 the new Government in Berlin had mission to take down the Berlin wall and today there are only two segments of this wall left Berlin Wall Part 4 Citations "Berlin Wall."
