Reconciliation– Due to Ash Wednesday, Reconciliation will be by
appointment only this week. We will resume Reconciliation on
Wednesdays, from 4-5pm, on February 17th.
Weddings– Engaged? Congratulations! UCLA students, faculty, staff,
and other members of our worshipping community may contact Fr.
Paul about Engaged Encounter retreats and other aspects of Catholic
marriage preparation. Please do this at least 6 months before the proposed wedding date.
Infant Baptisms– Baptisms of children are celebrated once a quarter
during a Sunday Mass. Please contact a staff member to discuss potential workable dates.
RCIA/Confirmation– RCIA classes resumed on Sunday, January
10th. Confirmation classes began Tuesday, January 12. For more
information, please contact Ceci.
Anointing of the Sick– If you are facing serious illness or have an
upcoming surgery and would like to celebrate the Sacrament of
Anointing of the Sick, please contact either Fr. Peter or Fr. Paul.
Godparenting and Sponsoring– If you have been invited to be a godparent for an infant, or to be a sponsor for a child who is to be confirmed or make his or her first Communion, please contact Ceci,
who prepares people for these roles. Classes are held the first Sunday
of each month after the 10:30am Mass.

The UCCC is a great opportunity to reach out to fellow Catholic
college students from throughout California. It will be hosted at
UCLA in Winter Quarter 2017, and we’d love your help planning it!

Winter Speaker: Fr. Richard Leonard, SJ
Fr. Richard Leonard, SJ, a Jesuit priest and director
of the Australian Catholic Office for Film & Broadcasting, will visit the UCC on Sunday, February 21st
to preach all the Masses and give two presentations.
At 12:30pm Sunday, he’ll be interviewed and speak
on “Catholics Go to the Movies, Pop Culture Goes
to Church,” a look at the representations of religion in media and
the influence of pop culture on the Church. On Tuesday, February
23rd at 7:30pm, he'll present “Where the Hell Is God?” on where/
how to find God in the tough times. A former Visiting Scholar in
UCLA's School of Theatre, Film, & Television, Fr. Leonard has
served on juries at the Venice, Berlin, Montreal, and Hong Kong
International Film Festivals. This best-selling Paulist Press author
(Why Bother Praying? What are We Doing On Earth For Christ's Sake?) is a
favorite speaker and preacher at the LA archdiocese’s Religious Ed
Congress. His most recent book, What Are We Hoping For? Reflections
on Lent & Easter, was just released. DON’T MISS HIM!!!

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Meetings
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will resume meetings on Sunday,
February 14th, after the 10:30am Mass. For more information,

Discussion on Justice and Mercy
Justice on its own, too harsh? Mercy on its own, too soft? Where
there is mercy justice is more just. Come join us on Tuesday, February 16, at 7pm in the Community Room to discuss how these two
complement each other and how it applies to different social issues.
Jesuit Volunteer Corps Representative to Visit
Mary Paige Bausch, Program Coordinator for the Jesuit
Volunteer Corps (JVC), along with several local Jesuit
Volunteers, will speak at all Masses in two weeks, on
Sunday, February 21st, and will coordinate a panel
discussion with local current and former Jesuit Volunteers over pizza
on Monday, February 22nd at 7pm at the UCC.
Jesuit Volunteer Corps is a full-time service program offering college
graduates an opportunity to work for justice and peace as they commit to living out the four values of community, spirituality, simple
living, and social justice for one or two years in 6 countries and 34
cities in the U.S. Applications for JVC are due March 14th.

What is a Retreat? A getaway with old & new friends up
in the mountains, sharing life's journey, lively prayer,
and a great opportunity to bring your Faith to life. Our
retreat team is thinking & planning and praying for all who will come
