Contact
Active Minds is a national nonprofit organization
which aims to destigmatize mental health issues in a
university setting. On a peer-to-peer basis, students
are encouraged to familiarize themselves with various
aspects of mental health; to respect those who
experience depression, anxiety or other mental
adversities; and to engage in support and awareness.

The American Medical Student Association is
committed to improving healthcare and healthcare
delivery to all people; promoting active improvement

Biological Society
To us, biology is not simply an academic requirement

Cancer
Colleges Against Cancer works on behalf of the
American Cancer Society to celebrate those who are
currently fighting cancer, remember those we have
lost to cancer, and fight back against cancer through
preventive care. We encourage students to live a
healthy lifestyle by creating activities focused on
nutrition, exercise, and lowering stress. Many of our
activities are sponsored by LiveWell NYU, an
organization that promotes a healthier campus.

Draper Chemical
Society
Global Brigades
at NYU
The Draper Chemical Society (DCS) aims to build a
community of NYU chemists and chemistry
enthusiasts. We acquaint students with new research
and developments in the field, and hold community
service events to give back to the community. We
also demonstrate chemistry experiments to kids, give
tours of research labs at NYU, conduct faculty and
alumni chats, and much more!

Global Brigades includes the preparation, delivery,
and follow-up of nine unique programs that are
implemented alongside community members and
local technicians: Architecture, Business, Dental,
Environmental, Human Rights, Medical, Microfinance,
Public Health, and Water.

Within our partner communities, access to healthcare
remains one of the largest challenges. Global
Brigades has worked with local government,
international and local doctors, and student leaders
to develop a Medical program with the goal to
provide consistent access to healthcare using an
economically sustainable model. Our Medical
program has three complimentary initiatives: mobile
clinics (medical brigades), resident community health
workers, and a patient referral program with local
specialists.

Project Health works to break the link between
poverty and poor health by mobilizing college
students to provide sustained public health
intervention in partnership with urban medical
centers, universities, and community organizations.

Heart to Heart
Our mission is dedicated to the prevention of high
blood pressure by providing free blood pressure
screenings across New York City to populations with
elevated risks for this condition. We aim to help
communities who have a high prevalence of this
condition, sometimes because of socioeconomic
factors out of their control. We provide educational
brochures and referral information to those at risk,
and become a first step towards promoting health
and awareness.

Operation
Dreamcatchers
The mission of Operation Dreamcatchers is to be a
leading and charitable not-for-profit organization
that promotes awareness in healthcare worldwide.
They collect monetary donations to alleviate medical
disparities by purchasing medical supplies for
underprivileged charitable institutions in
underdeveloped countries abroad. All monetary
donations collected will be used to purchase the
needed medical supplies, which will be sent to the
intended charitable institution where visiting
members of Operation Dreamcatchers will ensure
that the medical supplies are properly received by
beneficiaries. In fulfilling their mission, they hope to
encourage leadership, character, service, and charity.

Peer Health
Exchange
Peer Health Exchange’s mission is to give teenagers
the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy
decisions. We do this by training college students to
teach a comprehensive health curriculum in public
high schools that lack health education. Our vision is
that, one day, all teens will have the knowledge and
skills they need to make healthy decisions.

Phi Delta Epsilon is a co-ed international medical
fraternity that, at the undergraduate level, serves

Pre-Dental Club
The NYU Pre-Dental Club is a campus organization
devoted to providing guidance to those
undergraduates interested in a future in the dental
field. Our club is involved in organizing community
dental awareness as well as hosting local dentists and
dental administrators from various universities in
order to gain further insight into the dental field. Our
club offers the opportunity to find hands-on dental
experience and information regarding dental school
admissions and the DAT.
