PEM fasteners provide strong, quality threads
in metal and P.C. boards too thin to be tapped.
PEM fasteners are easily installed by
inserting them into punched or drilled
holes and applying parallel squeezing
forces. In ductile materials, as the installation
force is applied, part of the sheet cold flows into an undercut beneath the
head thereby making the fastener an integral part of the sheet. A serrated
clinching ring prevents the fastener from rotating once installed.
To help you identify genuine PEM® brand fasteners,
most are marked by one of our registered
trademarks – “PEM” or “one and two groove”
trademark on internally threaded fasteners and a
“recessed dimple” on the ends of studs. To be sure
you are getting genuine PEM® brand fasteners look
for the PEM® Trademarks.

PEM brand broaching fasteners for printed circuit boards and nonductile materials are pressed into drilled mounting holes and held
permanently in place by an interference fit. Both self-clinching and
broaching designs withstand substantial pushout and torque-out forces.
PEM Fastening Systems also offers weld nuts. PEM weld nuts are round
thereby eliminating indexing, and have pilot shanks so that they are selflocating in panel holes and protect threads from weld splatter.

PEM brand fasteners are available in many variations as indicated on the
following pages. Selections of threaded fasteners include free-running,
self-locking, floating, and blind hole types meeting Unified, ISO, and
MIL standards. They are available in carbon steel, stainless steel, and
aluminum.

CONNECT’R WARE® fasteners for connector mounting, AUTOSPEC®
fasteners for automotive applications, and SI® brand inserts for plastics.

PEMSERTER presses are designed to safely, reliably, accurately, and
quickly install PEM fasteners. When using PEMSERTER presses to
install PEM fasteners the entire fastener installation process is
streamlined. No matter how complex or simple an installation challenge
may be, using the PEM fastener and PEMSERTER press system will
provide you with quality results.

install fastener closer to edge of sheet than minimum edge distance indicated by manufacturer – unless a special fixture is
used to restrict bulging of sheet edge.
over-squeeze. It will crush the head, distort threads and buckle the sheet. Be certain to determine optimum installation
force by test prior to production runs.
attempt to insert fastener with a hammer blow – under any circumstances. A hammer blow won’t permit the sheet metal to

The Series P3 fastener installation press is a portable hand tool weighing only 4.6 kg. / 10 lbs. that can develop a

With the Series P3 press, you can easily install self-clinching nuts and studs in metric or unified sizes. The metric
press kit contains punches and anvils to install nuts (S, CLS, and CLA) ranging from M2 thru M5 thread sizes and

A low cost system that combines a
lightweight driver and “sticks” of serially
connected hex head screws. Simply
insert the stick in the driver, advance to
the second screw, squeeze the trigger,
place the tip of the rotating screw in the
threaded hole and the screw is driven
home, twisting off cleanly when precise
seating torque is reached.

Inserts with a blind end to protect the
threads from plastic intrusion.
Self-locking, blind threaded inserts with
deformed threads to lock screw in place
to resist vibration. Blind end protects
the threads from plastic intrusion.
Thru-threaded inserts with a pilot
diameter and undercut to allow plastic
to flow into grooves providing high
pullout resistance.
Thru-threaded inserts with a uniform
knurl diameter to reduce the risk of sink
marks. Available in varying lengths for
injection molding assemblies.

Prototype Kits
The PK-100 kit contains a wide variety of PEM
self-clinching fasteners for your prototype needs.
The kit contains over 1,000 different nuts, studs,
standoffs and panel fasteners of various types
and sizes, so you can choose the one which will
best suit your specific design requirements. The
PK-100 is available with unified and metric parts.
Price – $99.00. An SI prototype kit containing a
wide variety of inserts for plastics is also
available for $50.00. (Prices are subject to

eliminates direct contact of plastic with
