Transfer Assistance
Center—SSB
The GAT Office is now located
inside the Transfer Assistance
Center (between admissions
and registration). Look inside
the window to see if my sign
says in or out or refer to my
schedule on the front page of
this newsletter to see when I
will be around. When I am in,
the Transfer Center is available
to all of you to come in and utilize the space as needed. We
only ask that you sign in and
out. This is meant to be a quiet
study space as well as a good
place to meet other transfers.
Come in and relax. Enjoy the
space. Show UIC that Transfer
Students deserve and need a
space all their own. I look forward to seeing you all again
soon at the new Transfer Center.

UIC Wellness Center
The Wellness Center office houses a Resource Center with a range and variety of health and wellness
information, including brochures on issues covering everything from stress and nutrition to relationships and abstinence. The Resource Center is open to the entire UIC community. It is a place to get
quick information or to research a class project. Visitors are invited to browse the collection of health
and personal growth information.
Peer Wellness Workshops are available for residence halls, student groups, classes, and community
organizations. These programs, facilitated by trained wellness peer educators from the student organization WAVES, cover the latest information on alcohol, relationships, contraception, Sexually
Transmitted Infections (STI), HIV/AIDS, stress, and much more.
Free Consultations with a Health Educator
The Wellness Center offers confidential consultations with a health educator. Staff can provide consultation and referrals for topics including: substance use, sexual well-being, general nutrition, safety,
and more. These can be scheduled or on a walk-in basis. To schedule a session, contact the Wellness
Center at 312-413-2120.
Wellness Wednesdays Booth
Each week, the Wellness Center comes out of the depths of the Student Center East (formerly CCC)
to bring health information to you! Wellness Wednesdays is a service that provides the UIC community with a wealth of health-related information, on topics ranging from lung cancer and tobacco use
to alcohol and sexually transmitted infections. Take advantage of a wide variety of brochures, pamphlets, and, as always, free condoms.
Stop by the Wellness Wednesdays booth every Wednesday from 11:00 A.M to 1:00 P.M. next to the
Pier Room in the Student Center East, to see what the Wellness Center has to offer you!

Important GAT Information: How
and When to Apply
Next GAT Meetings at UIC
The application is available online now for the Fall of 2016. For
those of you who want to get a jump start on the application process
feel free to begin completing the application by going to
Dec 18 at 1pm
http://www.uic.edu/depts/oar/undergrad/apply_transfer.html or open
the hyperlink on the Apply Now button below. Be sure to complete
the UIC web application (not the common application) by clicking on
the box that says “Apply Now”.
Remember, as long as you have maintained the 3.0 gpa (3.5 gpa
for nutrition), you are guaranteed admission. You will still need to
include a personal statement and any other written requirements by
your individual UIC college.
Your deadline to apply is February 1, 2015
The deadline to submit supporting documents (your transcript(s)
and fee waiver form) is February 15, 2015. Please wait until your
final grades are posted for this fall 2014 semester before sending in
your transcripts (January is a good time).
Transcripts can be ordered online through Parchment and sent
electronically to UIC. They already have our email address so no
need to worry. You may also have your registrar print out a copy
and you can either mail it or drop it off to us a the Admissions Office
in SSB. Please be sure they are unopened.
For those of you who have a few credits from other institutions
please be sure to submit these transcripts as well. There is no way
around this. You must include ALL coursework even if you feel it will
not transfer. Without this information your application will be considered incomplete.
Note: You may receive emails from UIC stating that the
deadline to transfer is March 31. This does not apply if you
intend to apply under the GAT Program. The GAT application deadline will always be February 1.
