These mentors help students acquire knowledge and skills; build professional networks; and acclimate them to the norms and nuances of their discipline. Each graduate degree program also designates a Director of Graduate Studies who is the primary contact for distributing information to all graduate students in a specific degree program. Most DGS’s will announce job and internship opportunities specific to their degree program or discipline. While the Graduate School does not offer career services or career placement, grad students and postdocs have access to a variety of professional development opportunities such as the Minor in College Teaching, Preparing Future Faculty, and a seminar series for students interested in jobs outside of higher education. Students voluntarily elect to participate in several different career-related Blackboard orgs or follow career tips on Twitter @careersavvygrad. Individuals wishing to share information on campus visits, career fairs and other opportunities for grad students across disciplines should contact Robin Walker. Consultation on vitas, resumes and job search strategies is available via the MU Career Center, with particular emphasis on students seeking careers in industry. Job seekers are encouraged to set up a profile in Hire Mizzou Tigers. Graduate and Interdisciplinary Graduate Degree Programs MU offers more than 70 doctoral and 95 master’s degree programs.
