Campus program. You will receive helpful information on scholarships and opportunities for your student. Please come without your student to this event.

Chapman Commuter Club. Learn a few tips and tricks directly from students who have navigated this experience successfully. generation college students will be on hand to share their own experiences. During this session we will discuss the mission and goals of the Promising Futures

Program, our optional support program for first-generation college students at Chapman.

Being the parent of a student who is the first in his or her family to go to college is a very proud accomplishment. We look forward to providing you with resources and advice to better support your student!

Opening Convocation

Location: Wilson Field

Students, please enter the field through the north gate for the line up starting at 6:30 p.m.

Families, proceed to the bleachers of Wilson Field through any gates.

Students will process to their seats beginning at 6:50 p.m.

This traditional event is the formal opening to Chapman’s academic year. Faculty in full regalia march in procession and President Doti officially launches the semester.

Dr. Don Cardinal, dean of the

College of Education Studies, will give the annual “Aims of Education” inspirational address. After

Convocation, Orientation will officially begin. 

At the conclusion of this Program, families please remain seated as students exit through the north gate and proceed to the residence halls for a mandatory residence life meeting if they will be living on campus or to Beckman Hall for the Commuter Student Social.

DeAnn Yocum-Gaffney, associate vice chancellor and associate dean of students, for this interactive session that will introduce you to the Class of 2018/19 and the student and campus services that address and promote student safety, health, and well being.

University and the PAC. Parents can write a letter to their student to be delivered a few weeks after classes begin.

Academic Life at Chapman

During this session, you will learn about the key student services that will help promote your student’s academic success at Chapman. After a short video, representatives from the Office of the Chancellor; Academic Advising

Center; Tutoring, Learning, and

Testing Center; Leatherby Libraries;

Center for Global Education;

Career Development Center; and the Center for Undergraduate

Research will share information and answer questions about their available resources.

2:30 – 3:30 p.m .

Parent/Student Panel

Location: Memorial Hall

Join current Chapman students and parents to discuss how

families can support their new Panther. Learn about the important role that families play in the college experience, discuss what it means to be involved in the Chapman community, and, most importantly, get all of your questions answered.

Business Office Workshop

Representatives from the Business

Office will answer your questions regarding billing, loans, and scholarships. Both families and students are welcome to attend.

Services Fair is here! Come mingle with other new students and families as you explore booths representing over 30 on-campus departments. There will also be cool mocktails, Chapman safety whistles, and helpful safety tips provided by C.A.R.E.S. (Creating a Rape-Free Environment for

Students).
