Stay Healthy and Fit in Piedmont Park 1. Run or walk up Oak Hill 10 times and look back at the Midtown skyline on the way down. 2. Run or walk the scenic Meadow loop by snaking through the trees, going to the top of the hills and heading back down to the path. Check out all of the new plantings 3. Do 100 tricep dips down by the Dock - say hello to the ducks and maybe the raccoon family that lives there. 4. Run around the Active Oval gravel path twice and get yourself a mile. 5. Head to the Noguchi Playscape and use the rails on the stairs or equipment to do 50 pull-ups. If you are feeling really strong, use the bar between the swings and do 15 pull-ups. 6. Go to the center of the Active Oval and do 30 decline pushups or, if you want a better view, do 50 incline pushups. 7. Go to the Gazebo and do 50 wall jumps or 100 step-ups (50 each leg) and enjoy scenic Lake Clara Meer. 8. Bicycle around Lake & Active Oval circuit 5 times for a tour of the Park and some elevation change. 9. Sprint the distance of the new bocce courts, do 10 jumping jacks, sprint back and do 10 sit-ups, repeat 10 times. Remember to get a drink of water! 10. Do 50 leap frog squats on the Park Drive Bridge and check out the Dog Park. 11. Do 100 sit-ups next to the location for the Sidney Lanier bust and wonder where it is. 12. Do 100 squats next to Legacy Fountain. While you tone your legs, dream about next spring and enjoying a romp through the cool water. 13. Jog the historic steps from Piedmont Park to the Atlanta Botanical Garden Millennium Gate on the hillside adjoining the two attractions. Peek through the gates to see the beautiful gardens at the top of the steps and see great views of the Active Oval on your way down. 14. Do sprints across the narrowest point of the Meadow- about 100 meters. Do 5 of them and make sure you sprint. While you are catching your breath, think about how great the many concerts in the meadow have been this year. 15. Run the big loop around the tennis courts. Every time you get to an up hill, run backwards, do this 4 times. 16. Jog up and down the stairs, in a loop by the Piedmont Park Visitor’s Center. Do this 5 times. Peek in the windows while you cool down to see the great ceiling mural in this historic building (the first built in the Park in 1910). 17. Shuffle left to right and then back across the sand in the volleyball courts. Do it 10 times for fun (5 each way). Rest in the sand and pretend you are at the beach. 18. Go to the hill that leads to the Atlanta Botanical Garden. At the bottom of the hill, do 10 squats and head up the hill. Half way up, do 10 push ups, at the top do 10 sit ups and then run back to the bottom of the hill. Do this for 10 minutes and wonder how great it is to have Piedmont Park and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens all in one place. 19. Lunge walk across and back the bridge over Lake Clara Meer five times. Notice the painted tiles featuring native plants you can find throughout the Park. 20. Tackle the stairs at the Meadow: - Round 1: Jump up stairs (2 at a time) run back down - Round 2: Run up stairs, run back down - Round 3: Lunge walk up stairs, run back down - Round 4: Run up stairs, run back down 21. Tour the top of Oak Hill. Start at the Charles Allen gate, do 25 jumping jacks. Quickly run the path across Oak Hill to the 10th Street entrance and do 25 more jumping jacks. Count all the new trees planted along the path. 22. Do suicide sprints across the bridge at Lake Clara Meer. Sprint from one end to where the gazebo opens and sprint back. Sprint to where the wall starts again after the gazebo and sprint back, sprint to other end of bridge and sprint back. 23. 14th Street Gate Mash-up: Start at the 14th Street gate. Sprint around the landscaped path median featuring the Peace Monument. Stop and do 20 pushups. Sprint around the median again. Stop and do 20 jumping jacks. Run down and up the stairs to the Active Oval and around the median back to where you started. 24. Enjoy the Magnolia Greenway. Start at the new path by the edge of Lake Clara Meer and skip up the Magnolia Greenway, being sure to check out the wetlands area. Do side lunges across the top of the Greenway by Magnolia Hall (which use to be the parking lot), and then sprint down the hill. Repeat 3 times. 25. Pick a Loop! Choose one of the multi-distanced loops and run or walk around Piedmont Park. Enjoy the historic trees, try to count the many dozens of bird species in the Park, notice the unique sculptures or just take in the green lawns. Every time you visit Piedmont Park, you see something wonderful and new.
