However, we all pulled together to “getter done”. Reflect on this with pride and if you were not part of these Reunions, make a point to participate in them during this coming year. We will have two-April 4 and 5 and October 24 and 25th. 32° Consistory Master of Kadosh M. M. Skipper, 33° 2013 was the “Honors” year. We had 5 members receive honors from the Supreme Council. A special congratulations go out to Bob Black and Wes Campbell for their 33 degrees. We had a special banquet for our Honorees. This is something we had not done in quite a few years. 2014-A New Year-You should be excited. We will have new officers and new board members, new reunions, and new resolutions. John is being featured because he is the longest living member of the Scottish Rite in Lubbock. John joined the Scottish Rite on October 13, 1947 in El Paso. He belongs to the Yellowhouse Lodge #841. John was born on August 16, 1920 in Clyde, Texas. He moved to Slaton in 1926 and then on to Lubbock in 1934. During his early life, he worked in Lamesa in a blacksmith shop and attempted to gain employment in Dallas in the manufacturing industry at the time he drove a Ford Model A Roadster, which he had purchased for $35. It took him three days to make the drive. World War II came along and John joined the Merchant Marines and served most of his time in the Pacific. Like so many during this time, he had many memories of this time. He was in Japan after they surrender. John came back from the war and got married, joined the Blue Lodge and then the Scottish Rite, all in the same year (1947). He started his own restaurant business on Main Street near the Yellowhouse Lodge building. John has two kids. Both, kids live here in Lubbock. His daughter, Gloria and her husband bring John to our meetings. John’s son, Kenneth follows in his father’s footsteps and works as a horse-shoer. That’s like the old blacksmith days. John’s wife died in 1998. John said he became a Mason and a Scottish Rite because of B. E. Adair. CLINTON M. McPHERSON Clinton is being feature because he is the oldest living member in Lubbock. There are others that are older than Clinton, but they live too far for an interview. Many of you are very familiar with Clinton’s life as he has been featured in many local newspaper articles. We are proud that he is a member of our Lubbock Scottish Rite. Clinton has recalled his life so often that he knows it was a rainy Sunday when he was born, October 16th, 1918. His Dad was in the Navy and his Mother was living with her brother in Gainsville, Texas, in Cooke County. Clinton became a mason in the Slaton Lodge #1094. He became a Scottish Rite in Dallas on March 12, 1966. He is, also, a member of the Lubbock York Rite and a member of the York Rite College. Clinton’s military service during World War II was very distinguished. He flew 69 combat missions. He earned many combat medals to show for his service to his country. After the war, Clinton became a professor in the chemical department at Tech. He was one of the first to start a winery here in Lubbock. His son, Kim, stills runs the McPherson’s Winery. This last August, he and his wife, Clara, celebrated 70 years of marriage. Clara was an educator, also. Clinton says that being married to Clara is the best thing that ever happened to him and he has lived a very charmed life.
