THIS GROUP HAS BEEN CREATED TO PROVIDE A COMFORTABLE PLACE TO NETWORK,
SHARE INFORMATION, AND PROBLEM SOLVE. IT IS A CLOSED FORUM WHERE WE CAN
DISCUSS HOT TOPICS OF RELEVANCE AND SHARE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO INCREASE
NETWORKING AND COLLABORATION AMONG LIBRARY STAFF WORKING WITH CHILDREN
IN NORTHEAST FLORIDA.
THIS INTEREST GROUP WILL EXPLORE THE TOPIC OF “CREATIVE LIBRARY SPACES”,
BROADLY DEFINED. POSSIBLE TOPICS INCLUDE MAKER SPACES, CREATIVE
RENOVATION/REUSE OF EXISTING SPACES, DESIGN FOR NEW SPACES, ENGAGING
PATRONS AND STAFF IN ACTIVE CREATIVE ACTIVITIES.

GENEALOGY HAS BEEN A POPULAR HOBBY FOR MANY YEARS, AND IS ALWAYS
ATTRACTING NEW ENTHUSIASTS, DUE IN PART TO TV SHOWS LIKE “WHO DO YOU THINK
YOU ARE?” AND “FINDING YOUR ROOTS”. THIS GROUP IS OPEN TO ANYONE INTERESTED
IN GENEALOGY, WHETHER IT’S PART OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION OR NOT – WE SHARE
EXPERIENCES, SOURCES, AND IDEAS WITH EACH OTHER. THIS IN TURN HELPS US TO
ASSIST PATRONS AND INCREASE OUR GENEALOGICAL KNOWLEDGE.
THE LIBRARY TECHNOLOGIES GROUP DISCUSSES THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY ACROSS ALL
LIBRARY DEPARTMENTS AND SERVICES. TOPICS MAY INCLUDE ELECTRONIC RESOURCES,
WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT, MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES, SOCIAL MEDIA, INSTITUTIONAL
REPOSITORIES, AND MORE. THE GROUP IS OPEN TO ALL LIBRARY STAFF INTERESTED IN
SHARING AND LEARNING ABOUT WAYS TO ENHANCE ONLINE LIBRARY SERVICES.

GROUP MEMBERS HELP EACH OTHER WITH THE CHALLENGES, SUCCESSES AND
RESOURCES WE NEED WHILE TRAINING STAFF AND FOSTERING ORGANIZATIONAL
LEARNING CULTURES. SOME EXAMPLES: NURTURING MANAGEMENT AND STAFF BUY-IN;
CREATING STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAYS; DEVELOPING CORE COMPETENCY SETS, CROSSTRAINING, AND EVALUATION METHODS.
WE HOST QUARTERLY MEETINGS FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN TECHNICAL SERVICES ISSUES.
OUR GOALS ARE TO:
 PROVIDE CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS ON TECHNICAL SERVICES TOPICS
 FACILITATE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS AMONG THOSE WITH DAY-TO-DAY TECHNICAL
SERVICES RESPONSIBILITIES
 INCORPORATE NEW TECHNOLOGY IN THE TECHNICAL SERVICES WORKFLOW
