• Bellevue West ACT Practice Test: A full-length practice

ACT test will be offered under standardized conditions to help students prepare for the official ACT test. Students will take a practice test and receive their scores and feedback. This is a free opportunity and will take place on

Saturday, March 29th from 8 a.m. to noon. Register in the

Bellevue East: Bellevue East is offering a free ACT Prep class on March 25-26 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. To sign up for the class, call their counseling office at 293-4163.

UNMC/Metro Career Academies

**** The University of Nebraska Medical Center is offering a high school alliance where students will have the opportunity to observe, shadow, and work alongside world renowned health care professionals and researchers at UNMC. Students take classes on the UNMC campus from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Students who are interested in pursuing a career in health care should consider applying. Students who are enrolled will take two classes each semester. Class offerings may include Medical

Decisions Making, Health Careers Exploration, Pathology, Infectious Diseases,

Genetics, Exploration of Human Anatomy, and Dimensions of Community Health.

Eligible students must be at least 16 years of age, have completed and attained at least a B in Algebra I, Biology, and Physical Science. If you meet the requirements and are interested in applying, please see your counselor. Deadline to apply is March 7th.

Metro

is offering several Technical Academies that are designed for high school juniors and seniors to earn both high school and college credit. Students who are accepted into a program take classes at Bellevue West in the morning and take classes at Metro Community College in the afternoon. The programs offered for 2014-2015 are Auto Collision and Automotive Technology, Certified Nursing Assistant,

Criminal Justice, Construction Technology, Diesel Technology, Digital

Cinema/Filmmaking, Early Childhood Education, Electrical Technology, EMT, Fire

Science, Information Tech, Intro to Trades/Manufacturing/Internship, Process

Operation Technology, Theatre Technology, & Welding Technology. Students need to be on track for graduation and have good attendance. See your counselor to apply.

Deadline is March 1.

2013 Drive2Life Student PSA Contest

• Open to students in grades 6-12

• Participants will create a storyboard or script for a memorable Public Service Announcement that promotes passenger and driver safety in impaired-driving situations

Grand prize winner will receive $1,000 and will go to New

York City where a film crew will turn the student’s vision into a 30-second commercial.

Summer Experience

The University of Nebraska at Omaha is hosting a Summer Scholars Program.

Participants learn about college academic course work, time management, college admissions, ACT/SAT preparation, and college scholarships and financial aid.
