SUMMER READING NEWS M.LONGORIA SUMMER 2013- GRADE-4 SUMMER REQUIREMENTS 2013 San Antonio Academy for Boys Upcoming 4th graders. Inside this issue: Reading Log pg 2 Summary Directions pg 3 Reading List pg 4 This year the fourth grade read a total of 46,996,739 words. This amounted to 2,232 chapter books for the school year. This was about a chapter book a week per student. To prepare for the upcoming year and beat this amazing record….. You are required to: • • • • Read at least 4 Chapter Books from different authors, three of which must be from the list. Keep a log of your summer reading. Write one summary on a book of your choice. See cube directions. Do not bring summer work on the first day of school. MEDALS AWARDED TO TOP READERS A medal will be awarded to the boys who exceed the book requirement. Here is how to earn your medal: • • • BRONZE: Five books (three from the list) for a total of 800+ pages. SILVER: Five books (four from the list) for a total of 1,000+ pages. GOLD: Six books (four from the list) for a total of 1,500+ pages. All reading must be documented and signed by a parent. Please note…this is required reading. The summary will count as the first test grade. The Reading Log will count as the first homework grade.
