UCSB Conditions of Enrollment Please read and initial next to each statement below indicating that you understand and agree to these conditions of enrollment. Course Enrollment: UCSB Extension Courses: _____ You may enroll online as soon as UCSB Extension courses are published for each quarter. _____ Enrollment is on a space-available basis. Spaces are not guaranteed and fill quickly. _____ You must enroll in courses prior to the first class meeting. UCSB Regular Session Courses: _____ Enrollment is possible through UCSB Extension’s Open University. You do not qualify as a matriculated UCSB student. _____ You may only enroll in person, only after the first class meeting. _____ Enrollment is on a space-available basis (UCSB matriculated students have priority enrollment). _____ You must enroll in courses by the published deadline. _____ Course admission is by consent of instructor and/or academic department as required Clearing Prerequisites: _____ All Courses: You must demonstrate that you have met all prerequisites. Therefore, you are required to bring your most recent home university transcript and course descriptions (in English). UCSB Extension Courses: _____ You must clear course prerequisites with the instructor via email before enrolling in courses. _____ To clear prerequisites, you must email your request to Student Services. Address the email to the instructor and include your name and e-mail, your reason for the request, title of course you wish to take, and title and official description (in English) of course(s) taken at your home university that qualify as a prerequisite for the desired course. _____ You must send a separate request for each course with a prerequisite. UCSB Extension Student Services personnel will forward your request(s) to the instructor and then inform you if your request has been approved or not. UCSB Regular Session Courses: _____ You must clear prerequisites with the instructor at the first class meeting. For select courses, UCSB Extension personnel or the instructor might ask you to clear prerequisites with the academic department. You must be prepared to show your transcript and course descriptions (in English) for proof of having met prerequisites. Course Load: _____ To comply with F-1 Visa requirements, you must take the minimum quarterly course load as noted below: Undergraduate Level - 12 units Graduate Level – 8 units Professional Level - 12 units Undergraduate/Graduate/Professional Combination - 12 units _____ It is recommended that you take no more than 12 undergraduate units or 8 graduate units per quarter, especially during your first quarter of study. Transcripts & Credit Transfer: _____ Grades & units earned in UCSB Extension & UCSB Regular Session courses will be posted to an official transcript issued by UCSB Extension. _____ You are urged to verify acceptability of UCSB Extension units through consultation with your home university. UCSB Extension units are based on the quarter system. One quarter unit equals two-thirds of a semester unit.
