Translational Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Lab carterlab.ucdavis.edu *Now accepting research assistant and postdoctoral fellow applications* Research Assistant Position in Cognitive Neuroscience The Translational Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Lab at the University of California Davis, led by Dr. Cameron Carter, is seeking applicants for full time research assistant (RA) positions starting in the spring/early summer of 2015. The main focus of the lab is the investigation of cognitive control mechanisms implemented by the prefrontal cortex and investigating the pathophysiological changes that underlie impaired cognitive control in psychiatric illness. The RA will be working in a dynamic and friendly environment on a variety of projects involving structural and functional MRI and EEG studies with healthy and psychiatrically ill subjects. The scope of responsibilities is broad and may include subject recruitment, scanning, data processing and data analysis. Individuals majoring in psychology, neuroscience, computer science and engineering are encouraged to apply. Previous experience in neuroimaging and/or familiarity with Matlab programming and SPM is desired. This is an ideal position for someone interested in pursuing graduate studies in cognitive neuroscience or a clinical discipline drawing upon this area of basic science. We are looking for a two-year commitment. We offer a competitive package of salary and benefits, including reduced tuition for courses at UC Davis. Applicants must show proof of college degree prior to beginning the position. Applications should include a cover letter, CV, a list of relevant course work, GPA, and references. Applications should be sent via email to Tyler Lesh Ph.D., Project Scientist (talesh@ucdavis.edu). Post-doctoral Fellowship Position in Cognitive Neuroscience The Translational Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Lab at the University of California, Davis, led by Dr. Cameron Carter, is seeking applicants for a full time post-doctoral fellow position starting in the summer or early fall of 2015. The main focus of the lab is the investigation of the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying cognitive control utilizing behavioral, fMRI and EEG methods. The post-doc will be working in a dynamic and supportive environment on a variety of projects involving healthy and psychiatrically ill subjects, specifically individuals with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Individuals with a PhD in clinical psychology are encouraged to apply. Previous experience with theories and methodologies related to understanding adolescent cognitive development, emotion regulation, cognitive remediation, and other factors that may affect psychosocial outcome are considered strengths. Previous experience in neuroimaging and/or EEG, as well as familiarity with Matlab, EEGlab, and SPM are also considered strengths, but are not required. This is an ideal position for someone interested in pursuing an academic career related to either clinical neuroscience or basic developmental cognitive neuroscience. Opportunities to accrue clinical hours and supervision toward licensure will be available. We are looking for a two-year commitment. We offer a competitive package of salary and benefits, as well as a career development workshop within the lab. Applications should include a cover letter, CV, list of relevant course work, undergraduate and graduate GPA, and references.
