Using the Social Relation Model (SRM), I am exploring how perceptions of both ingroup and outgroup members can affect these expectations. -Lab Manager Manager Duties: Structure and analyze data using SPSS Train and supervise research assistants and Recruit and schedule participants Research Duties: Assisted in conducting studies, May 2010-August 2010 interns entering data, and behavioral coding of confederate videos Dr. Emily Balcetis: Social Perception Action and Motivation (SPAM) Lab May 2010-present NYU Department of Psychology -“Altered Visual Perception as a Mechanism of Implementation Intentions to Enhance Goal-Directed Performance” - Research Assistant and Independent Researcher Duties: Design, conduct, and analyze data for 1 experiment Research Question: -Self-regulatory strategies, such as implementation intentions, have been shown to both enhance goal-directed behavior and bias visual perception. This research explores how altered visual perception may be acting as a mechanism through which implementation intentions facilitate goal achievement. - SPAM Lab Intern May 2010 – August 2010 Member of a competitive summer internship program for additional research experience Dr. John Jost: System Justification Lab August 2010-present NYU Department of Psychology - “Motivated Tactile Perception In the Service of the System: The Case of Anthropogenic Climate Change” - Research Assistant Duties: Assisted in collecting and entering data for 3 experiments Research Question: -Denial of global warming has been shown to be associated with the motivation to defend the current socioeconomic system. This research explores the idea that this denial of environmental issues is facilitated by biased tactile perception of ambient temperature. C.
