If you are a Biochemistry (BA) major, you will need to complete MATH 1710.
If you are a Biochemistry (BS) major, you will need to complete MATH 1710 and MATH 1720.

Biology (BS)
If you are a Biology (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from MATH 1680 or
MATH 1710.
If you are a Biology (BS) major, you will need to complete MATH 1710.
Chemistry (BA)
If you are a Chemistry (BA) major, you will need to complete MATH 1710 and MATH 1720.
Chemistry (BS)
If you are a Chemistry (BS) major, you will need to complete MATH 1710 and additional higher
level Mathematics courses.
If you are a Communication Studies (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course
from the following list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level
Mathematics course.
If you are a Converged Broadcast Media (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course
from the following list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level
Mathematics course.
If you are a Dance (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from the following
list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level Mathematics course.
If you are a Dance (BFA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from the following
list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level Mathematics course.
If you are an Ecology (BS) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from MATH 1680
or MATH 1710.
If you are an Economics (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from MATH
1190, or MATH 1710.
If you are an Economics (BS) major, you will need to complete MATH 1710, 1720 and will need
additional higher level Mathematics courses.
If you are an English (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from the following
list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level Mathematics course.
If you are a French (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from the following

If you are a German (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from the following
list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level Mathematics course.
If you are a History (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from the following
list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level Mathematics course.
If you are an Integrative Studies (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from
the following list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level
Mathematics course.
If you are an International Studies (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course
from the following list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level

If you are Mathematics (BA or BS) major, you will need to complete MATH 1710 and additional
higher level Mathematics courses.

If you are a Physics (BS) major, you will need to complete MATH 1710 and additional higher

If you are a Political Science (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from the
following list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level Mathematics
course. MATH 1680 is highly recommended.
If you are a Professional & Technical Communication (BA) major, you will need to complete one
MATH course from the following list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or
higher level Mathematics course.
If you are a Psychology major, you will need to complete MATH 1680.

If you are a Social Science (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from the
following list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level Mathematics
course.
If you are a Sociology (BA) or (BS) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from the
following list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level Mathematics
course.
If you are a Spanish (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from the following
list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level Mathematics course.
If you are a Theatre (BA) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from the following
list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level Mathematics course.

All Business Majors
This major requires that you complete MATH 1190 (or MATH 1710) with a minimum grade of a
“C” and any required pre-requisites. In order to be enrolled in MATH 1190 (or MATH 1710) you
must satisfy pre-requisites by: 1. Taking the approved prerequisite course(s) and earning
grade(s) that are at a minimum a “C” or 2. Making an acceptable score on UNT’s MATH
placement exam to place directly into MATH 1190 (MATH 1710).
College of Education
Interdisciplinary Studies EC-6th grade (ALL TRACKS)
If you are an Interdisciplinary Studies, EC – 6th Grade major you will need to take MATH 1350
and MATH 1351.
Interdisciplinary Studies 4th - 8th Grade (MATH)
If you are an Interdisciplinary Studies 4th Grade – 8th Grade MATH major you will need to take
MATH 1350, MATH 1351, MATH 1650 (or MATH elective numbered above MATH 1720 if MATH
course work begins at MATH 1710 or higher), MATH 1710, MATH 1720, MATH 1680 or 3680,
and two courses selected from MATH 1580, MATH 2000, MATH 2100, MATH 2700, MATH 2730,
or any MATH course numbered above MATH 1720.
If you are an Interdisciplinary Studies, 4th Grade – 8th Grade Science major you will need to take a
minimum of MATH 1100 or MATH 1180, and two other core or higher MATH classes (MATH
1600 is recommended to fulfill science prerequisites).
If you are an Interdisciplinary Studies, 4th Grade – 8th Grade Social Studies major you will need to
take one core MATH class, and two other core or higher MATH classes.
Interdisciplinary Studies 4th- 8th Grade (SCIENCE)
Interdisciplinary Studies 4th-8th Grade (SOCIAL STUDIES)
Interdisciplinary Studies 4th- 8th Grade (ENGLISH, LANGUAGE
ARTS, & READING)
If you are an Interdisciplinary Studies, 4th Grade – 8th Grade English, Language Arts & Reading
major you will need to take one core MATH class, and two other core or higher MATH classes.
Development and Family Studies
All Development and Family Studies majors must complete any MATH course from the
approved university core list.
All Health Promotion majors must complete any MATH course from the approved university
core list.

All Recreation and Leisure Studies majors must complete any MATH course from the approved
university core list.
Kinesiology
If you are a Kinesiology major, you will need to take MATH 1680 to fulfill the MATH
requirement for the degree.
College of Engineering
All Engineering Majors
All Engineering majors are required to be ready for MATH 1710. In order to be enrolled in MATH
1710 you must satisfy pre-requisites by: 1. Taking MATH 1650 or equivalent courses. 2. Scoring
an acceptable grade on a MATH placement exam. 3. Other evidence of MATH preparedness as
prescribed by the UNT Mathematics Department.
College of Information
All College of Information Majors
All College of Information majors must complete any college level MATH class above MATH
1100.
College of Merchandising, Hospitality & Tourism
Hospitality Management
Merchandising, Home Furnishings Merchandising
Digital Retailing
If you are Hospitality Management major you must complete any MATH course from the
approved university core list. MATH 1580 is recommended.
If you are a Merchandising, or Home Furnishings Merchandising major you are required to take
MATH 1680.
If you are Digital Retailing major you are required to take MATH 1680 or DSCI 2710.
Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism
All Journalism Majors
If you are a Journalism (BA) major, you will need to complete MATH 1680.
College of Music
All Music Majors
If you are Music (BA or BM) major, you will need to complete one MATH course from the
following list: MATH 1180, MATH 1580, MATH 1680, MATH 1190, or higher level Mathematics
course. Recommended: MATH 1580
College of Public Affairs and Community Service
All Majors
The College of Public Affairs and Community Service recommends MATH 1680.
College of Visual Arts
All Majors
All College of Visual Arts majors will need to complete a college level MATH class.
Recommended courses are MATH 1580 or MATH 1680.
