Manoj Doss University of Chicago Department of Psychology 5848 South University Avenue Chicago, IL 60637 469-387-5797 mkdoss@uchicago.edu PROFILE I am a graduate student at the University of Chicago in the Memory Research Laboratory (MRL) under Professor David Gallo. I am currently investigating the relationship between different mechanisms of false recollection and estimates of recollection and familiarity. My other research interests include emotional memory, systems consolidation, and psychopharmacology. EDUCATION University of Chicago Chicago, IL PhD in Psychology (Integrative Neuroscience program), 2013-present Consists of a range of psychology and neuroscience classes for the first two years, a qualifying exam, and a dissertation. University College London London, UK MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience, 2010-2011 Consisted of a research project and eight modules involving current issues in cognitive neuroscience, structure of the human brain, neuroimaging, lesion approaches, translational research, and statistics. Overall Mark: 66 (Merit) Research Project: 67 (Merit) The University of Texas at Austin Austin, TX B.S. in Psychology (Minor in Spanish), 2006-2010 Consisted of a range of classes in psychology, including cognitive and behavioral neuroscience, as well as biology, chemistry, and genetics. GPA: 3.784 Honors: College Scholar (2009 & 2010), Graduated with Honors Study Abroad: Suffolk University Madrid Campus, Fall 2007 Madrid, Spain University College London, Spring 2008 London, UK RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE 09/2013-present, Student Researcher, UChicago, MRL Chicago, IL I am currently working on a project that aims to dissociate two mechanisms that lead to false recollections. Another goal of this project is to find a relationship between these mechanisms and recollection and familiarity. Eventually I would like to investigate the effects of recreational drugs on false recollection, true recollection, and familiarity. 09/2011-2013 Junior Specialist, UC Davis, DML Davis, CA As well as working on projects that involved the dependency of context and reward on memory, I aided other lab members by programming experiments, analyzing data, and scanning subjects. I also organized lab meetings, managed expenditures, administered the server, and renewed IRB protocols. 01/2011-08/2011 Master’s Project, UCL, CPU London, UK The project’s aim was to investigate the effects of low, oral doses of cannabidiol (CBD) on a novel emotion recognition task with dynamic expressions in high trait anxious participants. The project involved screening participants, administering and scoring questionnaires, handling and administering CBD, administering behavioral tests, drawing blood, and entering and analyzing data. 08/2009-08/2010 Research Assistant, Preston Lab, UT Austin Austin, TX I created stimuli for fMRI studies, administered behavioral tests, traced the basal ganglia for a region of interest analysis, managed data on the server, scanned participants, and tested eye-tracking in the scanner. KEY SKILLS Programming experiments in Psychtoolbox fMRI data analysis with SPM Receiver operating characteristic analysis Statistical analysis with R Phlebotomy Microsoft Office proficient Photo and video editing with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Fluent in Spanish CONFERENCES/ORGANIZATIONS Cognitive Neuroscience Society, San Francisco, CA, April 2013 Presented the poster “Time-dependent changes in contextual facilitation of memory retrieval.” Memory Disorders Research Society, Davis, CA, September 2012 Organized and managed an invitation only conference on memory.
