Instrumental Music Class Offered Fall 2014 as Enrichment Program
In September 2014, Abrams Hebrew Academy will again offer instrumental musical instruction! Classes of 12 students will be available on the flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, baritone horn, trombone and percussion.
Percussion students will be accepted only if the student has a full drum set at home or can bring xylophone (bell set,)
dumbeck, congas, etc. to class.
This is an enrichment program; lessons and ensemble classes will be given during school hours. Lessons
during lunchtime, after school or recess are not possible. The Abrams Band and other ensembles will meet during lunch
or recess as concerts approach.
STUDENTS MUST
*Be in grades 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8
*Make up all work missed out of academic classes
PARENTS MUST
1 - Provide the musical instrument, in standard satisfactory condition. Or,
*Rental will be available through Cordas Music, 4 Jane Street, Ewing, NJ 08638, at the September 08 prices which
remain to the present: Wind Instruments @ $35 plus $2.45 sales tax for the first 4 months and each
month following @ $25.00 per month plus $1.75 sales tax.
Alto saxophone or baritone horn is initially $75 for the first 4 months and then $36 per month plus $2.52 tax per month
afterwards. Purchase within the first year is recommended.
* Consider purchase after renting because:
Every penny of rental from Mr. Lou Cordas is credited toward the purchase of the rented instrument, or, an instrument
of equal value.
At time of purchase, 20% is taken off the remaining balance if your account is current.
2- Be responsible for proper handling and maintenance of the instruments. Mishandled instruments must be
repaired at the parent’s expense.
3- Reserve a place for your child in the 2014-2015 Instrumental Music Program by downloading the
Instrumental Registration Form from the Abrams website or obtaining the form from the school office.
Complete the form and send it to the Abram’s Office with a check for $540 made to Abrams Hebrew
Academy ($500 lessons and $40 materials fee.)
OR if you choose monthly payments made to your Abrams tuition bill, send the registration form and a note that
you will contact Carol Wallace in the Abram’s office to arrange for a $560 fee to be added to your tuition
bill ($500 lessons and $40 materials fee and a $20 office processing fee.)
* Mail all forms to Abrams Hebrew Academy. Mark the envelope, Attention: Dr. Grossman.
* Forms and checks must be received by September 3, 2014. Do not date checks earlier than September 1, 2014.
* Note that after the 6th lesson there can be no refunds of the lesson fee unless another child takes the place of a child
leaving the Instrumental Music Program. The materials fee is not refundable once a child begins the
Instrumental Music Program. Materials will already have been purchased and used; they cannot be returned.
For the serious music student, I am happy to facilitate enriched study through an on-line resource of music education
called: Smart Music. Please visit www.smartmusic.com for further information and contact me.
Space is limited! Please register as soon as possible so that materials can be ordered and received for the start of
lessons.
I thank the many parents and students who have encouraged me to expand this program and I look forward to
working together with you and your child in exploring the world of music.
Sincerely,
Elayne R. Grossman
