Time Evolves ™ Writing Instruments Manual About Xezo The Xezo (pronounced “Zee-zo”) brand of luxury products is created for individuals who appreciate striking design, an emphasis on limited-edition production, and traditional “Old World” craftsmanship using only high-quality materials. You may notice we use the capital “X” as our Xezo logo. Not only is “X” the first letter of our company name, but it is also a naturally occurring pattern often found on river stones and other rock-like, enduring formations. Since its inception in 2001, Xezo has followed this credo: To produce sensibly priced, high-quality, handcrafted luxury items in limited quantities. Our luxury items are made with lustrous mother-of-pearl originating from natural sea and ocean saltwaters, solid 925 sterling silver, 18-karat gold, sapphire crystals, solid titanium, brass, surgical-grade stainless steel, and many other exceptional materials. Each of our exquisite timepieces, fine writing instruments, hand-crafted leather goods and fashion eyewear models is created to reflect your good taste - and the integrity, skills and care of our artisans. Our luxury goods are known for their distinctive colors, striking finishes and luxurious materials. Once you hold a Xezo product in your hands and see firsthand the spectacular Xezo difference, you will know the reason that each limited-edition piece can rightly be called a “Masterpiece.” Xezo Exquisite Timepieces Exquisite timepieces by Xezo reflect more than just superb watch design or the refined taste of individuals who purchase them. They reflect the Xezo philosophy that time is not merely expressed as an hour, a minute or a second. Rather, time is a continuity, evolving into various forms that can create harmony or create contrast. Together, these forms express the unique dynamics in every Xezo watch design. Xezo believes production should follow design form, not the other way around. That is why you will find the Xezo brand exclusive in every aspect, from its copyrighted designs to the total number of timepieces made. Production is limited to 500 pieces for most models. The birth of each Xezo watch begins in the United States, where our designer’s imagination creates a masterpiece of time on paper. The designing process itself may take many months, and involves numerous “trial and error” steps before perfection is achieved. It starts with the selection of overall dimensions for the case and band that will be pleasing to the eye. Next, precise Pantone colors are chosen for dials, followed by the matching of just the right shape of the numerals and hands for dials. After a composite drawing is created, all design elements are adjusted to make sure an overall balanced product appearance has been achieved. A technical drawing is produced to reflect the exact size and specifics of each part. Then precision engineering takes over, starting with the creation of molds for both case and band, followed by stamping and precision CNC (computer numerical control) cutting of casing and band links. The careful polishing of parts completes this production phase. Xezo watches are made at state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities known for their strictly controlled fabrication processes (including dust-free assembling). Each part of a timepiece is carefully inspected numerous times during its production to detect imperfections. Special attention is given to repeated water-resistance testing of every watch case; some models require up to 120 minutes or more of testing time. After all watch cases are tested the assembling process begins. Finally, each watch undergoes a final water-resistance test before passing inspection. This acute attention to detail ensures the quality and value of Xezo watches will truly stand the test of time. Xezo Fine Writing Instruments Every Xezo fine writing instrument is a “Masterpiece,” amazing the imagination and giving joy to the eye. All our pens are lovingly crafted using some of the world’s most sought-after materials. Production is limited to 500 pieces for most models. Imagine holding in your hands a work of art made of precious, gleaming mother-of-pearl, or sparkling sterling silver with an ornately diamond-cut shaft. Our designs evoke a range of stylistic themes--ranging from classical Greek, Art Deco and even futuristic days—to cater to your many different tastes and moods. Pen production involves meticulous calibration of the materials’ weight to create a feeling of perfect balance in writing. The selection of pantone colors for pen finishes is done under natural lighting conditions, thus assuring a uniquely balanced finish. In the final stages, many unique and proprietary lacquer finishes are applied for durability and aesthetic appearance. The result? Our careful selection of high-quality components is an assurance you are purchasing impeccably high-end products. Xezo Fashion Sunglasses We use only high-quality materials such as pure titanium (above 99.3% pure which we stamp as 100% titanium), gold-plated steel, and various lightweight metal alloys to make our luxury eyewear. Production is limited to 500 pieces for most models. Every frame undergoes rigorous testing to ensure quality soldering, finishing and grooving. It is noteworthy that metal in our pure titanium sunglasses is certified and undergo a chemical test. Our polarized lenses are made of scratch-resistant polycarbonate material that offers above 99% protection against the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Some models feature anti-reflection coating on lenses. On most models, the sun lenses in the frame can be replaced with prescription lenses by an optician, should this ever be required. Our sunglasses make an excellent accessory for hiking, fishing, golf and driving. With so many different sunglasses in the Xezo eyewear collection, you’re sure to find more than a few unique styles to fit your individual taste. Many people prefer the convenience of an ink cartridge while others enjoy the ritual of filling their pens from the glass bottles of richly colored ink. That's why Xezo offers two options for refilling a fountain pen. Ink Cartridges One ink cartridge has been included in this writing set. The cartridge should only be replaced when ink supply has been depleted. Unscrew the barrel of the fountain pen and remove the empty cartridge. Insert the narrower end of the new cartridge into the back of the section block with enough pressure to create a snug fit. The pin inside the section block will puncture the seal of the cartridge, allowing ink to flow into the section block. Screw the barrel on over the cartridge into the section block. During the initial procedure, it may take up to 4 minutes for ink to flow to the nib. Nib Section Bottle Ink Cartridge Unscrew the barrel of the fountain pen and remove the empty cartridge (if present). Insert the end of the enclosed converter with the open ring into the back of the section block with enough pressure to create a snug fit. Twist the black knob end of the converter to send the piston down to the end inserted into the section block. Dip the nib of the fountain pen into the bottled ink so that the nib is submerged up to the section block. Twist the black knob end the opposite direction to draw ink up into the converter. Remove the nib from the bottled ink and twist the black knob end a little to force out a couple of drops of ink back into the bottle. Twist the knob end again in the opposite direction to draw a little air into the converter. Screw the barrel on over the converter into the section block. 2 IMPORTANT TIPS FOR MAINTAINING AND STORING YOUR FOUNTAIN PEN • • • • • • • Do not attempt to remove or alter the nib or feed as this has been adjusted by a skilled craftsman. If the flow of ink is not exactly as desired, send the pen to an authorized Xezo dealer for adjustment or nib exchange. Store your fountain pen upright, with nib pointing up, in a pocket, purse, or pen cup. This will help drain the ink into the barrel and refill, while avoiding draying or clogging of the nib. If your fountain pen will not be used for an extended period of time, remove the ink cartridge (or converter) and nib section to prevent clogging and ink evaporation. The nib of a fountain pen will mold and conform to the individual's writing style and should not be used by others. Clean the fountain pen between refills of a different color. This will avoid blending the ink colors. A converter that is not being used for ink can be used to flush the nib and section block. Simply draw cool water up through the nib, force the water out, repeating this several times. Dry the nib and section block with a cleaning cloth. If your fountain pen becomes clogged, soak the nib in cold water for up to 24 hours. Follow the cleaning instruction listed below. HOW TO CLEAN YOUR FOUNTAIN PEN A fountain pen needs to be cleaned twice a year. To do so, simply remove the ink cartridge or converter and flush the nib and section block with cool water. Dry the nib and section block with the enclosed cleaning cloth. DO NOT use hot water or solvents as this will damage the finish and/or mechanism. If the inside of the cap becomes soiled with ink, wrap a piece of dampened tissue or thin cloth around a match stick to remove the ink. 3 Xezo Maestro All Natural Mother-of-Pearl and Sea Shell Handcrafted Ball Pens.
