Course Overview
This course is completely delivered online through blackboard. The course examines the
effects of international cultural differences on business practices within and outside the
United States and provides methods to build synergies and establish/enhance
competitive advantage via those differences.
There are four learning goals that the students will master during the course:
1. Global Competitive Environment – Explain the key factors in the domestic and
global economic, political-legal, socio-cultural, and technological environment of
business and be able to systematically analyze the multiple environments in
which organizations operate and seek to gain competitive advantage. Be able to
explain and understand the challenges of managing across cultures
2. Ethical and Legal Responsibilities – Understand the ethical and legal
responsibilities of organizations as they pursue economic goals and objectives. .
Understand and explain the role of leadership across cultures
3. Communication – Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
4. Management Principles – Understand the basic theories, concepts, and effective
behavioral practices that form the foundation of modern management thought
and demonstrate the ability to apply key management concepts.

Course Outline
There will be one semester long project focused on mindfulness and tolerance. This will
be a power point presentation due at the end of the course. More details will be posted
in the modules section of blackboard.
There will be 14, ten-question chapter quizzes due each Tuesday. Each quiz is worth 5
points (.5 each) and you will have 25 minutes to complete it. The quizzes are open now,
and must be completed by 9 pm on their due dates as posted below and in the
assignments tab in Blackboard. The quizzes are all based on the International
Management book.
There will be two opportunities to receive extra credit during the semester. There will
be an announcement regarding details.

Plagiarism/Ethics
Throughout the course you will are expected to turn in your original work and maintain
ethical standards. If there is any incident of academic fraud it will be dealt in accordance
to USF’s published policy (www.ugs.usf.edu/catalogs/0304/adadap.htm).
There will several instances in the assignments that you are expected to cite your
sources. You must do this or you will receive a zero for the assignment. There is no
specific format you must follow but examples are provided in the assignment
instructions.

All the assignments will specify what readings need to be completed but you will need
