To apply for a student visa, you need to contact the nearest Turkish consulate or the Turkish Embassy in your home country together with the following documents: Passport The Letter of Acceptance from Antalya International University (AIU) Visa application form (this form will be provided at the consulate or embassy when you apply. Alternatively, you may download and print from http://www.mfa.gov.tr/data/KONSOLOSLUK/visaform.doc) Visa fee Two color photos. Other documents required by the Turkish Embassy Please call the consulate or embassy for further necessary documents. We advise you to apply at least two months before the semester begins. The visa fee might vary from country to country and is paid in local currency. When you receive your visa, check to see that it is a “student visa”. Please be aware that tourist visas are not accepted. The university will be requesting a valid student visa stamped on your passport to formalize your registration. Student visas cannot be obtained within Turkey. Residence Permit Once you arrive to Turkey, you will have to apply for a residence permit within the first month. A Residence Permit is an official document stating registration with the Directorate of Security (Emniyet Müdürlüğü). Some of the documents required for residence permit will be prepared by the Student Affairs Office and you will be able to receive them by your arrival. Health and Insurance All Students have to be registered for the Health Insurance during their education period at Antalya International University. The Resident Permit application is accepted only after completing the Health Insurance registration. How to get to AIU from the airport Antalya Airport is 10 km (6 miles) east of Antalya's city center It's easy to travel between the airport, city center and Antalya Otogar (intercity bus terminal) by airport shuttle Antobüs 600, Havaş, Taxi. From the Otogar you can reach AIU campus by bus DC-15 or Karagöz mini bus from ‘Metro’ bus stop. Antobüs 600 Antobüs 600 buses shuttle between Antalya Airport's Domestic Terminal (İç Hatlar) and International Terminal No. 1 (1. Dış Hatlar) to the Antalya Otogar (bus terminal) every 30 minutes for less than 4 TL (one-way, pay the driver in cash). Service to & from the airport is about every 30 minutes from 06:00 am to 23:30 (11:30 pm), with additional trips at 00:20 (12:20 am), 02:30 am and 04:30 am. The trip takes about one hour. Havaş Airport Bus Havaş airport shuttle buses connect Antalya airport's Domestic Terminal with the Otogar / 5 M MIGROS (intercity bus terminal; the bus stop is opposite the Otogar in front of the ASAT building). Buses operate about every hour from 06:00 am to 22:00 (10 pm), with two earlier-morning buses (04:30 and 05:30) as well. Tickets cost 10 TL for the 45-minute trip. Taxi Of course there are taxis to and from Antalya Airport. You should see a fare signboard near the taxi rank at the airport as well. A taxi to the center may cost 35 TL to 50 TL in the daytime. About Antalya Antalya is a city on the Mediterranean coast of southwestern Turkey. It is Turkey's biggest international sea resort, located on the Turkish Riviera. In 2011 the city had a population of 964,886 and the metropolitan municipality 1,041,972. In 2013, Antalya became the third most visited city in the world by number of international arrivals, ranking behind Paris and London, respectively. Climate Antalya province has Mediterranean climate with hot summers and moderately warm and rainy winters. The area has sunny weather for 10 months a year, in summer the average temperature is between 28-36 degrees. In January the average temperature varies between 10-20 degrees. Snow doesn’t fall in Antalya center except for the high mountains which surrounds Antalya. It is very rare for the temperature to drop below zero. During the last 40 years the highest recorded temperature was 44.6 °C. In Antalya the average humidity rate is 64%, whereas the sea temperatures are 17.6 °C in January, 18.0 °C in April, 27.7 °C in August and 24.5 °C in September.
