E-mail Tips for a Successful Online Learning Experience
1. STUDENTS: Your .mil or other personal email addresses (like yahoo or hotmail) will not
work in Blackboard - even if you change them, they will automatically revert back to the
troy.edu account every day when the Bb updates are performed.
2. Make sure to activate your Troy University e-mail and use it for all correspondence with the
eTROY staff and faculty. Follow these steps to set up your Troy e-mail account:
a. Click on Trojan Web Express on the left hand side of the Troy University home page.
b.
Click on Continue to Trojan Web Express, then click on Students, and then on
what's my User ID?
c.
Once the student has his/her UserID, he/she can return to http://www.troy.edu and
click on Trojan E-mail on the bottom left of the screen.
d. The UserID will be entered along with the student's 8-digit birth date: example:
(01/01/1927) for Jan. 1st, 1927.
e.
At that point the student will be successfully logged into their new Trojan email
account. In order to ensure the integrity and security of your Trojan email account
the university strongly recommends that you change your password after having first
logged on. The change password option is listed on the left side of your screen.
Also, you may want to reference the IT student email support page at the following

submit to Troy University, eTROY online. If you don’t know your student ID, you can find it
by logging into your Trojan web express under profile.
