Visual Art Finals Schedule

1. Twelve minutes: 12 question Vocabulary Quiz (60 pts.) Two vocabulary words will be illustrated.

2. Twenty minutes: Critique a work of art (80 pts.)

• Choose a minimum of 5 vocabulary terms from the vocabulary worksheet

• Describe, analyze and interpret your work. (25 pts. each section)

• Use 7 or more sentences

3. Thirty minutes: Drawing Quiz (120 pts.)

• Draw an ideal head

• Draw an ideal stick figure

• Shape to Form

4. Twelve minutes: Quick Critique (40 pts.)

• Evaluate the elements and principles of Shape to Form

1a. Vocabulary Quiz List

• formal balance: a type of balance where most elements are balanced on either side of the y axis

• composition: the arrangement of elements of a work of art or design

• symmetry: a type of design balance where each side of a central axis is a mirror image

• silhouette: the dark contour of a shape

• monochrome: a painting/image color scheme that uses one color with its tint and shade

• complimentary: a painting / image color scheme that uses colors opposite on the color wheel

• color schemes: a combination of colors in a work of art

• elements of art: line, shape, value, form, space, color, texture

• credit line: work's title, artist, medium, date

• critique: description, analysis, interpretation, judgment

• mixed media: a work that uses two or more media in one work

• geometric shape: shapes with straight or perfectly curved sides
