Graystar the experts in refrigeration KEEPING your trailers cold is the speciality at Graystar Trailers. The business was started five years ago by David and Samantha Gray, who lead a team that specialises in the design and manufacture of refrigerated transport equipment. David’s 30 years’ experience in the industry, coupled with an entrepreneurial desire, led to the formation of Graystar Trailers. Now they custom-design dry freight, refrigerated trailers and rigid bodies in-house. They trade secondhand trailers, offer a complete spares range and provide service, repair and maintenance services. Graystar also manufactures laminated panels for external sales. “Refrigerated trailers are our speciality. We care about every single trailer we build and strive to keep raising the bar,” Mr Gray said. “All Graystar Trailer models are based around a full-length chassis. All chassis are designed and purpose-built in-house, based on lightweight high-tensile steel.” He said the solid design of the Graystar chassis made it ideal for road train work and the extremes of Western Australia and North Queensland were the perfect environment for a Graystar chassis. The team at Graystar Trailers has more than 100 years of combined experience – Roger Wiltshire can assist with all sales inquiries, service, panel sales or general requests; while Peter Mancino can assist with refrigerated trailer rental inquiries and spare parts sales. “Here at Graystar, we have greatly increased our ability to supply clients with high quality refrigerated rental vans,” Mr Mancino said. “We have double-stacker, 45-foot vans available for immediate rent, at very competitive pricing.” Mr Gray said the five years Graystar Trailers had been operating had resulted in enormous amounts of research and development. “We are building a refrigerated trailer package that is lightweight, TAILOR-MADE: All equipment is designed and manufactured with the client in mind. PHOTOS: CONTRIBUTED stronger and more thermally efficient than any other manufacturer,” he said. This comes after they were approached to build a B-double drive-through combination that featured an integral vertical double loader system with tracing recessed in the walls. “The trailer was built with an aluminium airflow floor – due to the strength required under high volume use, that was recessed flush with the sills on the door frames,” Mr Gray said. “On both the B and A trailer, the roller tracks had to be recessed into the walls to allow for unhindered pallet loading. The end result was a premium product built, which ticked all the boxes for the client’s application.” Graystar Trailers have a 8000sq m premises in Preston, Victoria, where they manufacture custom-build refrigerated semi-trailers.
