Lady Pirates also played the Jaguars first and lost 21-19, but then came back and defeated the Bruins 22-19. Both teams played very well in this preseason scrimmage, and are hoping for a great season!
The Vidor Lady Pirate Junior Varsity recently competed in a tournament held at
Hampshire Fannett High School. First they faced Dayton and came out with a win, with a score of 29-27. However, they took a tough loss to Hampshire Fannett, the score was 42-29. To end the tournament they faced Splendora. They fought till the very end and defeated the Wildcats with a score of 32-20. The JV Lady Pirate Basketball

Powerlifting is a sport that is all about:
Dedication and Determination.
Some people think its just lifting weights when really there's a lot more to it than just that. You workout to loose all the fat that you want to loose and for you to gain more muscle. Just because were not out there playing football or softball, doesn't mean that we don’t work as hard. We give it 110% when we lift at meets or to make it to regions or even state...
Especially nationals.
Think everything we do is easy? It takes nerve, hard work and a lot of heart to go and lift over 100lbs in front of hundreds of people. Go talk to
Coach Burkes or people that have been to state like Brittany Burton or
Makayla Conn, they can tell you how powerlifting really is. You also might think that you have to be big to do the sport but people all over the world of all different sizes do power lifting and a lot of small people pack a lot of heart and game. Another thing you don’t have to be is a guy, girls and guys do this sport together like a team should.
To this day high school students face more than bad grades, friend drama, parent problems and self doubt. To this day we battle a war inside of us. To this day, at any moment, a teenager could choose to end everything by their own hands.
“To This Day” is a project based off of the talents of word artist
Shane Koyczan.
The project faces problems such as how to deal with bullying, depression and anxiety. He lives in Yellowknife, Canada whenever he isn’t on tour telling crowds about his projects.
The video of the To This Day project has had millions of views ranging from social media sites to his tour sites. The project has saved many people from making rash decisions by raising up their self confidence. www.tothisdayproject.com

A story by Destinee Carpenter & Cheyenne Jarrell
Previously… “
Guinevere finally couldn’t run anymore. She collapsed next to the nearest tree, pulling herself to be sitting with her back against it. She was gasping for breath, putting a hand on her chest as she waited a few moments to catch her breath. Her plain white t shirt was stained with dirt, her light blue jeans were torn with holes in them, and at the moment she was completely barefoot. She ran her right hand through her messy red curls, before looking around at her surroundings. Where was she? How deep into the woods had she ran? She gave a deep sigh as she realized she was lost. Oh well, at least they couldn’t find her. Hopefully...
Another tree, another bush, all this forest and I have no idea where I'm going. Great. “I couldn’t go back now if I wanted too” I mutter. I wouldn’t though even if I could, id take never-ending forest over those who called themselves my parents any day. Another tree. “I hate them, I honestly do. It’s not a phase or teenage rebellion, I hate them” I continue muttering to myself. My face hurts so bad. The marks will fade I know all too well, but the pain in the meantime sucks pretty bad. I guess I could have stayed… no I had to get away from the yelling and the abuse. “I mean seriously what did I do to deserve that kind of treatment? What did I do that was so bad? Ok, I guess burning down my school didn’t help. It was the principles fault really, if he hadn’t of called my dad I wouldn’t have been so mad. After it was just coincidence that I was the one with the lighter.” I'm talking to myself I know, but it helps.
I go to step over a limb and trip, landing face first into the roots of another tree. “Great! Just great!” I yell at the treetops. I don’t know if I expected them to fix my now broken nose but it makes me feel better yelling at something. “this is your fault” I sneer at the tree as I pass popping my nose back in place. I’ve been walking for around two days now, trough cities and woods alike. I stopped a few times in the cities, mainly to snag a meal. People say stealing is wrong and that I shouldn’t do it, but who are they to say what I should and shouldn’t do? The only ones who can are my parents and their abusive drunks, so I don’t even listen to them. I owe anyone anything , as far as
I'm concerned the world owes me for all the wrong I’ve been dealt. So yes I steal food or clothes every now and then , deal with it.
The trees keep getting thicker and it’s starting to get dark now, and cold. “what next? Rain maybe?” I shout to the sky. I stop and wait, regretting it as soon as I’ve said it, thankfully no rain though. I should make camp somewhere, I’m tired and my legs feel as if they will give any minute. I start to snap limbs of the trees and gather fallen leaves until I start hearing more snapping than I’m making. That’s when I see her, running as if her life depends on it. Man, her hair is like fire red. Is that color even possible for hair to be? She disappeared in the forest a few seconds after I saw her. I feel like I need to go find her and see if she's ok, if nothing else get away from here. I don’t want to meet whatever she was running from. I stumble through the woods cussing at every root and branch I run into. God I hate these trees, their in my way and now I cant tell where she went.
What was she running from anyways? There's nothing that scary out here. Ok well I guess if you’re a scrawny girl like her you could get scared of the animals out here. Still running through this is a bad idea, she could have got hurt. That’s the last thing I need a whiney, scrawny, injured girl. “Ouch!” I hear as my boot hit something soft. I feel a hand land on my pant leg and then there's fire. Like real fire. I'm on fire. “I'm on fire!” I scream as I try to smother the flame that has engulfed my left leg. The fabric is burning my leg as I pat it out trying to see what started it in the first place. “I'm sorry, I'm so, so sorry” I hear from my left. “would you shut up and help me!” I growl at the voice. With help we finally put out the flame that was my pant leg, which is half gone now I might add.
The moon light replaces the light from the fire and I can see it’s the girl, the one from early. “hey” I mutter. “ I'm so sorry” she ‘s shaking her head now shrinking back against a tree. Man what I have got myself into.

A board wipe in mono black? I think yes! I know the fact that really the only use for this card is to kill all dragon creatures. Honestly though, what card doesn’t it hit in the type 2 format?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the only card it doesn’t hit is Stormbreath Dragon. Now this card I believe is the bomb … yes mono black does have board wipes, but none on turn with a CMC of 5. There is no downside, even with Fate Reforged being a set based around the dragons of the past coming back, it has an option for the dragon based decks with “destroy all Dragon creatures”. Crux of Fate opens a whole new world for mono black to once again rule the format. I love this card and I hope to see more out of this set as more of it comes out.

T he Nintendo 3Ds is rather lacking in the RPG department. Sure, we’ve got things like
Bravely Default, and some Shin
Megami Tensei games, but that’s about it. Fantasy life is extremely refreshing in this aspect. It’s the giant, highly re playable RPG the 3Ds has been needing.
In Fantasy Life, the first thing you’ll do is create an avatar with a hefty amount of options. No matter what, however, they’ll probably be adorable do to the game’s graphic style. Right after creating the appearance of your character and naming them, you’ll be able to choose a
“Life” from twelve different lives. A
Life, in the world of Fantasy Life, is basically your class. However, it’s a bit more than just “what weapon do you want to use”, as Fantasy Life will allow you to be things such as a Chef,
Alchemist, or even a Taylor!
As a non combat centric class, you’ll probably be spending most of the game gathering resources from across the land of Reveria, the game’s world, for crafting, and selling your crafted items for “Dosh”,
Reveria’s currency. To some it may get boring, while to others like myself it’s a refreshing take on an RPG.
You’ll still have to fight monsters of course, however, you’ll be using your skills in your Life to fight. Like crafting Bombs or making especially sturdy armor.
With all of the “Lives” you can play through (and switch between at will), the re playability of this game is staggering. Seeing as the level up system blocks you from becoming the master of everything, you’ll be able to have several different characters that play completely differently.
Seeing as my space on this page is limited, I can’t go into the
Multiplayer aspects or even the story.
But trust me when I say Fantasy Life is definitely worth the buy.

Families gather every year on the last Thursday of November to celebrate Thanksgiving, a holiday that Is supposed to make everyone feel grateful for what they have. I believe they do, but the capitalistic voice in our heads influence us to give in to industry’s manipulation schemes with the so expected ‘Black Friday’, making us alternate from people who appreciate what they have to and share what they own, to shellfish people in desperate need of material goods without even noticing it. I don’t think it’s wrong for people to go Black Friday shopping. What’s actually wrong is for you to have double-standards when it comes to being thankful and generous one day, but greedy and materialistic on the next. The timing of both events is definitely ironic, but maybe it will remind us to be grateful and kind in every situation.
