Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Degree Requirements
The Department of Computer Science, College of Arts & Sciences, offers the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
This ABET accredited degree program may be followed on main campus, at the Panama City campus, or Online via
distance learning. All requirements, including admission and graduation, are the same for all students pursuing the
degree. The information below summarizes the requirements and shows the schedule of course offerings available Online
and at the Panama City Campus. The BS degree in Computer Science is accredited by the Computer Accreditation
Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
Admission Requirements: The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is a limited access program. To be admitted, the
student must have a 2.0 overall GPA and must have completed the following with a grade of C- or better: COPXXXX, MAC
2311, MAC 2312, PHY X048C, PHY X049C, and one other science "for majors." The sequence CHM X045C, BSC X010,
BSC X011 may be used to replace the two physics classes. Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA to remain in the program.
Students entering without a COP course in C++ are advised to enter the program in the Summer term and take COP 3014.

Graduation Requirements:
The Bachelor of Science degree in CS requires a minimum of 120 semester hours. A minimum of 45 of these hours must be
earned at the 3000/4000 (junior/senior) level, with at least 30 of these being taken at FSU. The final 30 hours of the degree,
and at least half of the hours in the major, must be taken at FSU.
The offerings at the Panama City Campus and Online are designed to meet the requirements for the Bachelors of Science
degree in Computer Science for students entering with an Associate of Arts degree from a Florida Community College, or its
equivalent, which include the following: Foreign Language through the intermediate level (2200), PHY X048C and X049C
(or CHM X045C, BIO X010, BIO X011), Gordon Rule, X or Y multicultural requirement, SPC2600, and 3 additional
credits of a natural science for majors. (Some of these requirements may be satisfied after admission to FSU).
Students should seek advising prior to registering to ensure residency and senior institution hour requirements are met.
Students who have earned 99 hours must request a graduation check through the College of Arts and Sciences using a
Graduation Check Request Form [available in the Faculty Building Room 109 or by calling the College of Arts & Sciences
directly at (850) 644-1081]. Additionally, students must request a University Graduation Check (form available in the PCC
Office of Admissions and Records, Room 108, Barron Bldg., or online at http://artsandsciences.fsu.edu/UndergraduateStudents/Current-undergraduate-students/Graduation-checks-and-clearance). All students must apply for graduation by the
end of the second week of classes of the semester in which they plan to graduate. Students with questions about transferable
credit, minor requirement, or foreign language requirement may contact the Coordinator of Academic Support Services,
Department of Computer Science, Tallahassee, FL 32306, (850) 644-8700, or any Computer Science faculty member on the
Panama City Campus.
