Whether you are a sponsor, community partner, presenter, teacher, volunteer, student, or parent, we count on you and appreciate you. Adelante has just celebrated our 9th and most amazing year to date: our 4th graduating class with 100% of Adelante graduates attending their university of choice, and over 100 students and families participating across our six programs. Thank you to our volunteers who provided a record-­‐breaking 1,556 hours of service. Thank you, all, for your unwavering support of our vision this year! Board of Directors 2015 Adelante Hispanic Achievers (Adelante) is a non-­‐profit (501 (c) 3) and volunteer-­‐ based Armando Unzueta, Executive Chair organization chartered to provide opportunities for Hispanic youth and their families to gain Stephen P. Imhoff, Chair Emeritus Gina Buendia Cruz, Vice Chair the skills and knowledge necessary to function cross-­‐culturally and to contribute to society Guy Gomez, Treasurer as informed and pro-­‐active citizens. Adelante is the only organization in Louisville with the Irina McGrath, Secretary sole purpose of providing educational resources and support to Hispanic youth and families, and has been a JCPS Endorsed Site since 2008. Our goals are to encourage Hispanic youth to Roland Blahnik Kim Huston set and meet high personal, educational, and career goals and to increase parental Jose Neil Donis Ben Ruiz involvement in their children’s education and future. Our fourth graduating class! 2015 Adelante graduates will join our 2012-­‐2014 graduates attending these schools: University of Kentucky, University of Louisville Speed School, Eastern Kentucky University, JCTC, Western Kentucky University and University of Virginia. Every graduate of Adelante is receiving academic scholarships from the college of his/her choice. •
Adelante students' school attendance rate is 96.8%. •
Adelante high school students GPA is 3.28; Adelante students’ average GPA (all grades/all programs) is 3.06. •
Seven students are Adelante Ambassadors. They represent the organization and serve as the “student voice” of Adelante . They carry other duties including fundraising and leading service projects. “TJMS’s Adelante Program provides our Latino students with higher self esteem, a more positive attitude towards their academics, positive role models, tutoring, improved reading skills, activity time and teen discussions centered on peer pressure, esteem and choices.
