Security and Safety Guidelines The primary security needs at our events will be covered by the Community Security Group (CSG). CSG Emergency Number 1300 000 274 (1300 000 CSG) An extremely important secondary level of security can be provided by everyone involved in Carnival, including billets, sports conveners, managers and parents. Individually, we must take responsibility and contribute to everyone’s safety and security by looking out for each other. Some guidelines for taking individual responsibility; • • • • • • • Notify Security or a Maccabi Official of any incident, situation, suspicious activity by people or objects that are out of place that may endanger the security and safety of the event or participants. Be aware of who you should contact at each event. Be sensible and aware of your surroundings at sport and social events and look out for fellow participants. All participants and Maccabi Officials must wear identification badges at all times. ID badges will be distributed and interstate members can get them from their billets. You will need ID badges for the week so don’t lose them. Please report lost ID badges to your team manager immediately. A replacement will be issued if possible. ID badges have Team Management contact details and emergency numbers on them. Bag Inspections Bag Inspection prior to all social functions will be held. Opened bottles and full drink bottles will not be allowed inside. Water will be available at all functions. NOTE; Carnival is an alcohol, drug and cigarette free zone. Start and Finish Times Sports start promptly at 9.00am – please be at the venues before the start time. Competitions finish by 4.00pm however in some cases they may finish a little before. Specific timetables are available in this booklet. Participants and their billets can be picked up at the conclusion of their daily sporting event and not before. We always encourage participants to support their team mates who may still be competing. There will be NO supervision after 5.00pm at sports locations. Management have been instructed NOT to stay behind waiting for parents who are late. 3 North Transport A bus service will be provided in the mornings to transport participants from the Northern Suburbs to and from Masada College. Buses will also be available to transport participants back to the North and again to social functions. The transport point is the bus bay on Link Road. Each event listed in this program will give specific details on pick up and drop off times. Airport Collection Billeting families will be instructed that they must collect their guest from either the domestic or international airport (for NZ) at the appointed time. For billeting families you should receive these details just under 1 week prior to the start of Carnival. If you have not received this information please contact the NSW Team Manager Joel Weiner on 0400 245 872 ID Badges Identification Badges (ID) must be worn at all times by participants and management. Please make sure your child brings their ID tag with them to all sports and social events otherwise they will NOT be able to partake in the activities. Leaving Venues Participants are only allowed to leave venues when picked up by their billets, parents or nominated guardian. You must park your car legally and enter the venue to collect your child and billet. In the event a participant needs to leave any venue early, management need to be notified and names recorded. This collection procedure applies to buses returning participants to the North in the evenings. Management Team Carnival Management or Sport Organisers will be wearing a distinctive shirt, in the Maccabi colours of Navy, Light Blue and Green with the Carnival logo emblazoned on it. PLEASE NOTE: Safety and Security measures have been implemented that may cause some inconvenience. All carnival participants and parents are requested to respect the job that our security personnel, coordinators and officials have to do and we ask you to follow their instructions. With everyone’s co-operation, common sense and combined responsibility, we are confident all can enjoy a fantastic, safe and secure carnival experience. 4 Wet Weather Policy and Emergency Information: Below you will find arrangements for notification in the event of inclement weather or any emergency. We will be running a zero tolerance policy. Drugs are illegal. The legal drinking age in Australia is 18. This means that if you are caught with drugs or alcohol or arrive at a venue under the influence, you are breaking the law. We will try and deal with such circumstances internally, but if warranted, we may need to contact the police. The offenders will be sent home. No warnings will be given. In the case of an interstate visitor, they will be put on a plane home at their parents’ expense. In the case of a local competitor, you will be expelled from the Carnival. In all cases, no refund will be made. The implications will be regrettable. In the case of an inter-state competitor going home, the host family will lose the billet and an important Carnival experience. In the case of a local competitor, the interstate billet, assuming they are not implicated, will need to be moved to another home, and given our tight billeting situation this will be complicated and could impact on their experience. All teams attending Carnival have agreed to this. You are now aware of this policy.
