REGISTRATION HANDBOOK OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY Math Placement of Students Mathematics Assessment All first year students must take the ALEKS Math Placement Test prior to START (new student orientation and advising). This test, along with SAT/ACT mathematics scores, transcripts, and any AP/IB scores, will be used to determine placement in a new student’s first mathematics course. Information on the ALEKS Math Placement Test and an explanation of placement scores are available at http://www.math.oregonstate. edu/mlc-placement-home.
