Math Placement of Students
Mathematics Assessment
All first year students must take the ALEKS Math Placement Test prior to START (new student orientation and advising). This test, along
with SAT/ACT mathematics scores, transcripts, and any AP/IB scores, will be used to determine placement in a new student’s first mathematics course. Transfer students should consult with their academic advisor to determine course placement.

Descriptions of mathematics courses likely to be taken by entering students are included in the OSU General Catalog, http://catalog.

§ MTH 065 and MTH 095 are offered at community colleges or through OSU Extended Campus.
§ MTH 103 is offered through the Educational Opportunities Program (EOP) and the OSU Department of Mathematics. Consult an
academic advisor for the appropriate math sequence for your course of study.
