What is the wholesale price on stuff?
Answer: Usually from 20 to 50% off, depending on the item. The discount on most
leathers will be from 10 to 20%.
Can I get a cheaper price by buying in quantity?
Answer: Maybe. If you’re buying a quart of dye, and you ask if it’s cheaper if you buy
6, the answer will be no. If you can buy a dozen of one color, so I can just hand you a
case, you’ll get a little bit of a break.
3. Can I get a better price on leather by buying 100 feet at a time?
Answer: Maybe. It depends on what it is. The wholesale price on many of our products
is as low as we can possibly go and still remain in business. On some leathers however,
if you’ll buy 100 feet of one kind and color, there might be a little room to wiggle, but it
depends on the leather. The upshot of all this, is that we want to help, and we want your
business. So we’ll do our best for you.
4. Do you honor LF wholesale prices?
Answer: Yes.
5. Can I dye my shoes or boots? Answer: Maybe. You need to call on issues like this! 6. Should I use Mink Oil on my leather stuff? Answer: Mink oil is good for squeaky minks….. That being said, mink oil is certainly not our first choice for general leather protection or conditioning. This is one of those times when you ought to spend the dime, and call one of the leather gurus at SLC. 7. Can I make my car smell like leather? Answer: Yes. A few veg leather scraps under your seat will do wonders! 8. How do I get mold off of leather? Answer: Oxalic Acid. (Leather Bleach) We sell it; you can maybe get it at a chemical supply, or a drug store. White vinegar also will maybe do it, but not as well as oxalic acid. 9. What’s the best leather conditioner? Answer: How long is rope? Actually, there are many opinions. It really depends on what type of leather that you’re wanting to condition. I would suggest that you call. 10. Are you a Tandy store? Answer: Well if you can imagine a Tandy store on steroids….. 11. Can I put a dye on my car seat? Answer: Probably Not. Call leather Guru. 12. What is Nogahide and do you sell it? Answer: Vinyl. No. 13. When should I use Rubber Cement instead of Contact Cement? Answer: When you don’t want stuff to stick permanently 14. I’m interested in working with leather as a craft/hobby what would you recommend for my first project? Answer: A belt 15. What is the best way to measure leather to make a belt? Answer: From where the leather folds over the buckle, to the hole that the buckle hooks in. 16. How is leather thickness gauged?
Answer: 64ths of an inch, or ounces, or irons, or millimeters.
17. What would you recommend using exotic leather for?
Answer: Anything you want.
18. What is Latigo leather?
Answer: Leather that someone has decided to call latigo. Normally it’s associated with
outdoor use, especially horse tack, dog leads, and saddles and such. Usually has waxes
and oils in it.
