Admission Requirements
Large Animal Veterinary Technician
•
Certify you are a high school graduate or have a high school equivalency diploma (HSED). All documents must be submitted to the Northeast Iowa Community College Admissions Office.
•
Satisfy minimum placement testing for enrollment in College Composition I and College Algebra. Acceptable placement tests include ACCUPLACER, ACT, COMPASS or completion of approved college coursework with a grade of C- or above. Approved courses include Foundations of Writing or Intermediate Algebra. Students should submit test scores or their official college transcripts to the Admissions Office for consideration of a placement test waiver. Placement testing must have occurred within five years of your application date.

The Large Animal Veterinary Technician Program is
accredited by the American Veterinary Medical
Association (AVMA) Committee on Veterinary
Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA)
Complete a program interview with faculty and representatives from the Large Animal Veterinary Technician program. The interview committee reviews the applicant’s extracurricular/community activities, animal veterinary and work experience, personal development, professionalism and any special circumstances. Each of these items is considered and contributes to the overall impression of the applicant. Applicants should treat the program interview as a professional interview and should dress and plan accordingly.
PROGRAM INTERVIEW:
Program interviews may be scheduled after all admission requirements have been
completed. The interviews are available by appointment only on the Calmar Campus.

Northeast Iowa Community College faculty.
