SanDimas, California. Inbrief obtained a forty--eight(48) inch greeninflatable inner tubeand proceededto put the tube in the first body of water floating to one of the first spillways. Thisresultedin an injury beingsustainedby- 12 13 14 The Raging Rivers attraction is a slow moving, rider-navigatedattraction. which consistsof thirteen (13) 15 individual bodies of water, and eighteen(18) individual spillways. These spillways connectthe bodies of water 16 respectivelyto allow the rider the option to experienceseveraldifferent courses. The conveyanu utilized for this 17 attractionis a forty.-eight(48) inch inflatable innertube. which eachrider must obtain prior to enteringthe first 18 body of water. The first and uppennost body of water is the ingress point of the attraction. Once the rider is 19 properly positioned in the innertubc, the rider hasthe option of beginning thc ride at any numbcrofspillways. 20 Oncethe rider selectsan initial option, the rider travels down the spillway by meansof gravity and water flow 21 until the rider reachesthe next body of water. Oncethe rider begins to descenddown a spillway, the speed of the ride varies. dependingon the length and elementsin the spillway. along with the size of the patron onthe forty- 23 eight (41) inch tube. Whenthe rider reachesthe end of a spillway. they enteranother body of water with 24 additional spillway choices. This last body of water, known asthe "splashpool", is sharedwith anothertwo (2) flume water slide collectively known as "The Dark Hole". Additionally, the water circulation and pumping sy~em for the RagingRivers attractionis currently 13 sharedwith The Dark Hole attraction. According to RagingWaters managementthis atLractionwas built in 1984 4 with a maximum slide pathangle of 30% and an averageslide pathgrade of 100/0.The water flow for iliese 5 attractions is producedby four (4) 100 horsepowermotors and one (I) 125horsepowermotor. for a total offive 6 (5) motors capableof generating6.000 gallons of water flow per minute at 1,1.50revolutions per minute, for a 7 total of 30,000gallons of water per minute. The maximum water flow rate for this attraction is approximately 8 32,000 gallons per minute. J arrived at Raging Waters and was met by Mr. 18 Terry Mackey. GeneralManager,and Mrs. Mary Ann Magana.Human ResourceManager, both employed by 19 Raging Waters. At this time we had an openingconferencewhereMr. Teny Mackey explainedthe events that 20 took place in regardto the accidenton the Raging Rivers attractionon August 17. 20,01. After this. we walked 21 out to the Raging Riversattraction to take a cJoserlook. At this time the attractionwas in full operation, which I 22 observed. He said he did not. Mr. Scott Thompson infonned me that he did not work for RagingWaters. Raging Waters contractsall of their medical service to an 2 independentcompany, which hires and trains their own employees. However, Mr. Scott Thompsondid inform 13 me that he had previously respondedto many accidents on the RagingRivers attraction. Mr. Scott Thompson 4 also infonned me that RagingRivers hasno evacuationroutes planned for each body of water in the event of an 5 accident. At approximately4:45 PM on the sameday, I interviewed Mr. AITOnMoody. Mr. ACTonMoody was 6 working in the position RRJ (RagingRivers J) (dispatch) on the Raging Rivers attraction at the time of the 7 accident. Mr. Anon Moody informed me that he did not se~the accidentoccur. I askedMr. Anon Moody 18 specific questionspertaining to his responsibility on the Raging River attraction. Specffic questionswere also 9 askedof Mr. ArrODMoody in regardto training and operationalprocedureson the Raging Rivers attraction. 10 11 12 On Thursday,August 30, 200t, at approximately 11:00 AM I arrived at RanchoLos Amigos National Rehabilitation Center.where.~_. ."--- and. ~--" .;0:; -(uncle Duringmy interviewwith. -.(injured party)washospitalized. to conductan interviewwith 13 .. of the injuredparty.whowasnot injured)in regardto dle accident. 14 -I he indicatedthattheRagingRiversattractionwasvery.crowded 15 at the time of the accident. He indicatedthatjust prior to the accidentoccurring. he went to sit on his forty-eight 16 (48) inch inflatable inner tube, when the inner tube inadvertentlyslipped out from under him and went down the 17 spillway. ---walke.d 18 down the spillway to obtain his inner tube. was walking down the spillway,.- 19 hit him from behind. Next I went up to --- room to interview her in regardto the accident. Due to the nature of her injuries, 1- was able to 20 speakto me only briefly.
