Identify key departments and student services at San José State University. 2. Describe the California Public Higher Education Systems and their transfer requirements. 3. Apply strategies for effective time management in personal and academic settings. Survey Information Pre-test surveys were collected on the first day of class (2/24/12) via www.surveymonkey.com. Students were taken to a computer lab at the beginning of class to complete the survey in order to improve return rate. 22 students completed the survey. Post-surveys were collected on the last day of class (3/30/12) via www.surveymonkey.com. Students were taken to a computer lab and 16 surveys were collected. This course is designed for students who have applied and plan to transfer to SJSU upon completion of this class. Because five students had not applied for fall 2012 admission to SJSU, they were advised to drop the course and to enroll one semester prior to transfer Assessment Results After completing the course: 46.70% of students agreed that their knowledge of the SJSU’s admission office was very good, versus 4.5% prior to completing the course. 81.30% of students agreed that their knowledge of the SJSU registrar’s office was very good, versus 4.5% prior to completing the course. 81.30% of students agreed that their knowledge of the SJSU Career Center was very good, versus 0% prior to completing the course. 68.8% of students agreed that their knowledge of general education was very good, versus 31.8% prior to completing the course. 87.5% of students agreed that their knowledge of financial aid was very good, versus 22.7% prior to completing the course. 68.8% of students agreed that their knowledge of SJSU policies and procedures was very good, versus 13.6% prior to completing the course. 75% of students agreed that their knowledge of the Writing Skills Test (WST) was very good, versus 13.6% prior to completing the course. 50% of students strongly agreed that they had effective time management plans, versus 4.5% prior to completing the course. Action Plan Address SJSU programs in further detail. The results indicated that students continued to be unfamiliar with key academic and student support departments.
