New White Papers Show How QLogic Fibre Channel
Delivers Top Application Performance
Customers running Oracle or Microsoft applications in shared storage
environments should be doing so with HP-branded QLogic adapters like the
HP 81Q or 82Q Fibre Channel Adapters. Tests show that QLogic provides
106% better IOPS performance in OLTP and 23% better performance in
OLAP processing. For Microsoft Exchange, QLogic 8Gb Fibre Channel
Adapters deliver 133% better IOPS performance than Emulex and provide
increased performance that scales as workloads increase. For more
information, use these links to access the details.

QLogic and Brocade Accelerate Innovation in Storage
Area Networks
On January 17, QLogic and Brocade announced a technology alliance
agreement that will enhance end-to-end storage connectivity for end users
and accelerate innovation in Storage Area Networks (SANs). For specifics on
this announcement, read the press release here.
So what does this mean for HP, HP Partners and HP customers? First and
foremost, this is a great thing for the HP community. HP’s #1 SAN
infrastructure supplier (Brocade) and HP’s #1 Fibre Channel Adapter supplier
(QLogic) are teaming up to drive more innovation in SANs. This means
faster, more reliable, easier to manage and more scalable SANs for HP
customers will be developed and delivered through HP in the future. In the
short term, you will see more joint messaging and partnership between the
QLogic and Brocade teams calling on HP in all regions. Both companies are
aligned to drive growth and innovation in SANs. With Gen 5 Fibre Channel in
HP’s portfolio today, and Gen 6 in development, customers can rest assured
that Fibre Channel SAN infrastructure is the best choice for connecting
servers and storage together today and in the future.
In addition to the alliance agreement, it was announced that QLogic acquired
Brocade’s Fibre Channel and Converged Network Adapter business.
Effective immediately, QLogic has taken on full ownership of all adapter
technology that was previously manufactured, sold and supported by
Brocade. So what does this mean for the HP community? It means that the Brocade
adapters that are in the HP portfolio are now delivered by QLogic, and HP is
supported by QLogic for these products. This includes the HP 81B/82B 8Gb
PCIe Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters and the HP Brocade 804 8Gb Fibre
Channel Host Bus Adapter for HP BladeSystem c-Class products. These
adapters offer unique capabilities, especially when connected to Brocade
SAN fabrics. There are no plans for any changes to the QLogic adapter
lineup at HP in the near future. For more information, check out the Frequently Asked Questions document
on the QLogic Website.
