Description: Scholarship is available to high school seniors and all students
attending a post-secondary educational facility. You do not have to take

Defensive Driving Scholarship

be a response to one of the following (you can fim the video on a smartphone,
digital camera/camcorder, webcam, etc, and submitted here): 1) share an
experience in which practicing a safe driving habit saved your life or the life of
someone you know 2) Share a story that would help raise awareness about the
dangers of texting and driving 3) Share an experience that would help raise
awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving. Video should be from 1-2

Big Y Foods Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is available to employees and their dependents, and
customers and their dependents. A student’s school or permanent residence
must be located within Norfolk County, MA; Western or Central MA; or the state
of CT. All employees are eligible regardless of residence. Awards are given in the
categories of High School Senior, Community College, Undergraduate, Graduate
and Nontraditional Students. There are also special scholarships recognizing the
contributions of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and Military Service
members and their families. To apply: fill out the application found in the
Scholarship book; send in a copy of your transcript, send in a copy of college
board scores (if taken), send in at least two letters of recommendation (at least
one must be from a teacher), send in your personal resume/facts sheet detailing
activities, achievements, awards, community involvement, leadership positions,

Description: Scholarships are awarded to students who are legal US citizens
residing in the US or stationed overseas due to active US military duty. You must
be 18 years or younger by October 1, 2016 and be able to attend, with at least
one parent/guardian, an awards reception in Washington D.C. (travel and lodging
expenses will be paid by the Institute). You must be nominated by two different
nominators who are not in your family and you must submit a project at or close

The Watershed Fund Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is available to students who reside in the Regional Water
Authority District (Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Branford, Cheshire, Derby, East
Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Killingworth, Madison, Milford, New Haven, North
Branford, North Haven, Orange, Prospect, Seymour, or Woodbridge).Student
must be enrolled in or intending to enroll in a two or four year college or
university to pursue studies in environmental sciences. You must not have a
relationship to anyone on The Watershed Fund Board, The Watershed Fund’s
Scholarship Selection Committee, The Representative Policy Board, or The FiveMember Authority. Selection of this scholarship is based upon financial need and
is non-discriminatory. To receive this scholarship, you must demonstrate
academic ability in a chose course of environmental science, demonstrate
concern for your school and community, demonstrate that your work experiences
(volunteer or paid) supports your goals/aspirations in life, get a letter of
recommendation from your teacher or advisor, and demonstrate financial need.
You must fill out a FASFA in order to qualify for this award. You must also reside
in the district of the Regional Water Authority, provide proof of acceptance by an
accredited institution, provide a statement of intent to study a course that meets
with the mission of The Watershed Fund, and provide a persona l statement
including information concerning past environmental activities and involvements

Disabled Worker’s Scholarship
Deadline: April 15, 2016
Maximum Award: $10,000
Description: Scholarship is available to a high school senior that is the child of a
worker permanently and totally disabled in the work place. The injury must arise
out of the workplace. You must demonstrate both academic excellence and the
financial need to go onto college. Totally disability must also be confirmed by a
workers compensation final decision or social security award. You must include a
copy of your transcript and your class standing. You must also include a reference
