Story: The Cat in the Hat By: Dr. Seuss
Group Time: This week we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss. Today we are going to talk about the book The Cat in the Hat. I am going to start the morning off by reading the book. We will discuss the feelings the characters in the book expressed. Do they seem to like the
Cat in the Hat’s tricks? I will ask them to describe how they would have felt. We will talk about the things the Cat in the Hat did in the house that might have made their mom upset. We will also be doing the letter Hh on the Week Flip Chart. The class will investigate the special shape and sound of each letter from A to Z. In addition to that, we will be doing a Sing Along & Learn: The Alphabet. The song today is H Says Hi. We can’t forget about math and our alphabet flash cards. The attendance, calendar and weather will also be done this morning on the SMART Board.
Morning Center: Highlight-a-Letter! This activity will focus on the letter Hh. The students will grab a highlighter and find that letter. They will also practice tracing and writing the letter.
Art: The children will make the Cat in the Hat.
Afternoon Center: Rhyming with Seuss

Our Theme today is: Salute to Seuss
Free Play: Make up work!
Group Time: Today we are going to talk about the type of writing pattern Dr. Seuss like to use in his stories. We will pay close attention to the words in his books. The children will notice that rhyming is the name of his game and we will list our own rhyming words. Also, did you know that Dr. Seuss’s real name is Theodor Seuss Geisel? We can’t forget about math and our alphabet flash cards. The attendance, calendar and weather will also be done this morning on the SMART Board.
Morning Center: Make Thing 1 and/or Thing 2 Handprints!
Art: One Fish, Two Fish: The students will create an addition sentence using their fish that adds to 10. The students will use the math talk card to help complete their sentence.

Group Time: Today we will continue to talk about rhyming words. We will also talk about our favorite Dr. Seuss books. We will discuss where we think we would eat green eggs and ham! We will vote on if we like or dislike green eggs and ham. We can’t forget about math and our alphabet flash cards. The attendance, calendar and weather will also be done this morning on the SMART Board. Don’t forget show & tell.
Morning Center: The students will make a prediction... Will I like or not like green eggs and ham!
Green Eggs and Ham Recipe: the the student will cut the squares out and put them in the order you make green eggs and ham.
Art: We will make green eggs and ham!
