Transmitter Upgrades
Complete in North
Central Arkansas
We are pleased to announce the completion
of the DTV maximization project at KEMVDT serving north-central Arkansas. The
new antenna has an omni-directional pattern
expanding service areas west of Mt. View.
Increased broadcast power will increase the
signal reliability for current viewers, and add
additional viewers in areas previously not
served by KEMV’s digital signal. People living
within about a 50 mile radius of Fox, AR
should re-scan their DTV TV sets or converter
boxes in order to receive the KEMV signal over
the air. Cable and satellite viewers will not be
affected.
Thank you to our viewers in north-central
Arkansas for your patience! Our final DTV
maximization project, KTEJ-DT serving
Northeast Arkansas, is already in progress!
Dear Viewer,

Arkansas Week
AETN’s weekly news analysis program “Arkansas
Week” is a staple of the PBS Public Affairs Friday
night line-up. For over 25 years a dedicated,
experienced group of Arkansas journalists and
political scientists discuss issues in the news
weekly. “For a quarter-century Arkansans have
known they can turn to AETN and Arkansas Week
for a crisp, balanced review of the week’s events
in politics and policy,” veteran journalist Steve
Barnes, who’s hosted the program for 20 years,
said. “Wherever I travel the state, in literally
every county, I am continually gratified by the
response I receive from Arkansans who look to
the program for news and analysis that they
tell me they cannot find anywhere else on the
broadcast spectrum. It’s an honor to be a part
of it.”
In 2010 Arkansas Week introduced a new
program format. “We’ve introduced online
components and audience-produced segments
that allow our viewers to be a part of public
affairs programming in their state,” AETN
Executive Producer Carole Adornetto said.
Viewers are invited to become community
journalists for Arkansas Week by creating 60
to 90-second videos about the hot topics in
Arkansas news. Videos may be submitted
to www.aetn.org, on DVD or online through
YouTube. Additionally, AETN welcomes viewers to
submit suggestions for discussion topics through
e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter.
“Arkansas Week” airs Fridays at 8p.m.The program repeats Sundays at 6:30 a.m.
on KUAR public radio, FM89.1, Little Rock. Full video episodes and podcasts are
available online at www.aetn.org.
Monday, July 5 at 6:30 pm
This month Chuck visits the
Slaughter Pen, a mountain
biking trail near downtown
Bentonville; takes a float trip
on the Little Maumelle river, minutes from Little Rock; tours the
White River National Wildlife Refuge in east Arkansas; and searches

diamond-producing site in the world that is open to the public.

CARRIER In this encore presentation, CARRIER follows
a core group of film participants aboard the USS Nimitz,
from the admiral of the strike group to the youngest
sailors, as they navigate their jobs, families, faith,
patriotism, love, rites of passage and the war on terror.
“All Hands on Deck” Five-thousand sailors and
Marines bid farewell to their loved ones before
the mammoth USS Nimitz pulls out of Coronado,
California. Airs 07/06, 9-10 pm; repeats 07/07, 12
am
“Controlled Chaos” An aircraft carrier is a perilous
environment. The sailors’ only bulwark against danger
and chaos is to bond with their units on board the ship.
Airs 07/13, 9-10 pm; repeats 07/14, 12 am
“Super Secrets” Many aspects of life on a nuclear
aircraft carrier are hush-hush, including the ship’s
location, itinerary, details of how a nuclear reactor
works — and on-board dating. Airs 07/20, 9-10 pm;
repeats 07/21, 12 am
“Squared Away” Deployment is stressful for everyone
aboard, and there can be friction between enlisted
personnel and their superiors. Port calls, like Guam in
this episode, allow sailors to blow off steam, but they
don’t relieve all the pressure. Airs 07/27, 9-10 pm;
repeats 07/28, 12 am
A CELTIC PILGRIMAGE WITH JOHN
O’DONOHUE Weaving ancient wisdom with personal
history and breathtaking imagery, the documentary
reveals a deeper Ireland beyond the usual travelogues.
With mischievous humor, keen modern awareness and
a deep, empathic spirituality, O’Donohue leads the
viewer on an enlightening, emotionally affecting tour of
his homeland, offering profound insights on life, death,
suffering, creativity and divinity. Airs 07/29, 9-10 pm

GREAT MUSEUMS
“An Acquiring Mind: Philippe de Montebello and

“New Orleans: A Living Museum of Music” From
the Lower Ninth Ward to Congo Square, this episode
reveals the enormous recovery effort underway to

07/22, 9-10 pm; repeats 07/25, 1 pm
GREAT PERFORMANCES AT THE MET
“Hamlet” Simon Keenlyside and Marlis Petersen bring

LOST CAVE TEMPLES
In the forbidden Himalayan
kingdom of Mustang, a
team of climbers scale cliffs
to climb into mysterious
caves for the first time
and discover ancient cave
temples lost to the modern
world. Airs 07/05, 9-10
pm; repeats 07/07, 3 am

OLD GRAY LADY-ARKANSAS’S FIRST
NEWSPAPER “The Story of the Arkansas Gazette,
1819-1991” For nearly 172 years, even before
Arkansas was a state, the Arkansas Gazette served
as the newspaper of record for Arkansans. Under
the watch of J. N. Heiskell, editor of the paper from
1902 until 1972, the Gazette became one of the

Dan & Cindy Crowder
As children of the 60’s we grew up with TV
including AETN or “Channel 2” as it was referred
to and have, over the years, enjoyed a variety of
the programs offered. Some of our favorites these
days are This Old House, Antiques Roadshow,
and Exploring Arkansas as well as the specials
of Ken Burns and American Experience. We
are also very proud of the In Their Words project
that preserves Arkansas’s World War II veterans’
experiences. As business owners of Little Rock
Prosthetics, we understand the cost of these
programs and realize the importance of supporting
AETN, which we have done in the past and plan
on continuing.
AETN’s multi-generational programming offers
a full range of educational opportunities from
classroom to hobbies to traveling to news and the
arts. All this is offered at no cost to the viewer
and no commercials during the programs. As a
result of a program on AETN if one child reads
better, one young adult becomes more interested
in learning, or an older individual finds enjoyment
in a musical program, we know our support has
been worthwhile.
If you don’t already support AETN, please
consider it and the positive impact you can have
on the future of
tomorrow’s adults.
