Gang Members and Associates.
In 2012 LPD maintains documentation on
approximately 500 active Gang Members
and Associates and over 30 active groups.

Definition of a Gang
●
●
FS 874.03 defines a criminal street
gang as:
Formal or informal ongoing
organization, association or group
that has as one of its primary
activities the commission of
criminal or delinquent acts, and
that consists of three or more
persons who have a common
name or common identifying sign,
color, or symbols and have two or
more members who individually or
collectively engage or have
engaged in a pattern of criminal
street gang activity.

Traditional (vs) Hybrid Gangs

of the traits of a traditional gang
however, they frequently have a

Hybrid gangs are more difficult to
identify and often have spin off
groups with changing names.
Because of their lack of defined
leadership hybrid gangs can be
more dangerous and more
unpredictable than traditional
gangs.

Largo's Introduction to Gangs
Asian Pride Shooting
On 09/07/09 an Asian Pride Leader was the target
of a shooting at 301 Belcher Rd. Winding Lanes
Apartments. Multiple shots were fired into the
residence passing through the wall just above a
crib occupied by a sleeping infant. A bandanna
was left on the steps to the apartment after the
shooting as a message to the gang leader who
had angered members of APG.

hundred rounds of
ammunition.

area code).

11/23/12 Clearwater subject is shot and killed in Ridgcrest
while attending a party.
12/05/12 Clearwater Gang Associate fires multiple shots at
several YS Gang Members and Associates in Clearwater.
12/08/12 Unidentified suspects conduct a drive by shooting in
the Ridgecrest area. A vehicle matching the suspect
descriptions is located at Wild Willy's bar by LPD officers.
Several suspects arrested after cocaine and marijuana were
located inside vehicle.
12/09/12 Unidentified subjects conduct a drive by shooting in
Clearwater. Three children(6 yrs, 3 yrs, 3 months old) inside
the residence at time of shooting. YS Gang member is
identified as a suspect in this case.
12/21/12 YS Gang member is shot by Wick Jitt/Betty Lane
Boys associate in Ridgecrest area.

pursuit and subsequent investigation.
.45 Cal Glock Model #30 and Crack Cocaine recovered at
the scene.

Officers from Largo Police attempt to locate an 8-Hype Gang
Associate wanted in connection with two Largo armed home
invasion robberies.
Perimeter is set up around the house.
The suspect flees from the residence armed with a .25 caliber
handgun.
The suspect encounters a Largo Officer and both the officer and
suspect exchange gunfire.
Neither the officer or suspect are hit during the exchange of
gunfire.
The suspect flees on foot and is apprehended the following day.
