Foreword by the Dean of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia
On behalf of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, I would like to welcome all participants to the 7th
IMAT. Thank you to you who have come to share your scientific research experience and
outcomes, committed yourselves towards the betterment of the world that we live in. I
hope that this meeting of like minds in the areas of thermofluids will create greater
consciousness of the necessity for researchers to work together and synergize our research
efforts with results that will benefit mankind in one way or another, directly or indirectly,
sooner or later.
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, as one of the significant research universities in Malaysia that
focuses in the field of science and technology, has contributed much through its students
and academicians who have actively and relentlessly pursue their research interest. So
have you. It is hoped that this 2-day event with the sessions emphasizing on improvements
and optimization with theoretical, experimental, and numerical techniques in thermofluids,
will steer the directions of future research towards organized and systematic research
activities.

I thank God AlMighty for this 7th IMAT that has been made possible through much effort
from our own academic staffs at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi
Malaysia (UTM). I am thankful for their cooperation and assistance, working with me as a
team in making this 7th IMAT a success. I am also grateful towards our partner universities;
National University of Singapore and Universiti Indonesia without which there would have
been no IMAT to begin with. I would like to thank all participants for taking part in this
event, for their contributions of knowledge in engineering the future of thermofluid
sciences.
Seven years have passed since the first humble beginning of the 1st IMAT held in UTM in
2008 with the intention of assisting our research students and academicians share their
latest findings in thermofluids. Since then many research opportunities in terms of ideas and
collaborations have emerged. I would like to call upon all participants to continue with our
research endeavor to move forward as we exchange ideas and knowledge towards
realizing a better environment through effective, efficient, and sustainable thermofluid
processes and systems.
