Indirect Thermal Desorption – TPS
n
TPS
Multiple Indirect Thermal Treatment Options
Mobile
l  Mobile, component based systems
l  Basic configuration from 2 – 20 tonnes/hour
n
Commercially Proven Technology
l  Deployed commercially since 1995 for PCB impacted soil
l  Deployed by major oil producers worldwide since 1999
l  Proven safe and effective up to 70% hydrocarbon
n
Environmentally Benign/Low GHG

Indirect Thermal Desorption - TPS
Development History
n
Developed and patented in Canada in the early 1990’s by the PS2
Management Team
n
First commercialized and deployed in Canada by the PS2 Management
Team in 1994
n
First technology of its kind certified by Canadian Environmental
Technology Verification (ETV) Program in 1997
n
First internationally deployed in 1998 for remediation of host site for
2000 Olympic Games
n
TPS technology has been deployed in more than 12 countries including
Japan, US, China, Australia, UAE, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Boliva, Ecuador and
Argentina by the PS2 Management Team

Modular, Portable, Compact And Expandable
n
Basic TPS system consists of 4 modular units
l  Control Unit
l  Extraction Unit
l  Condensate Separation/NCG Handling Unit
l  Water Treatment Unit
n
Units are engineered for standard transport modalities
l  13m x 2.5m x 2.5m modular construction
n
Compact Footprint v Capacity
l  20m x 20m basic system
n
Basic system expandable to 18 tonnes per hour
l  Systems can efficiently be operated in parallel customizing capacity to any requirement
l  150 tonnes per hour systems designed

TPS2 – Jiangsu, China
Emission Sources Controlled
n
Unlike Directly Heated systems:
l  All emissions are controlled
l  Oil and water can be recovered
l  Only emissions are from natural gas consumption
n
Recovered Oil
l  <3% BS&W
l  Chemically similar to Fuel Oil
n
Recovered process water is collected, treated and recycled
n
Onsite recovery saves >120kg of CO2 v offsite incineration
n
Recovery of ~25,000 bbls of oil
n
Reclamation of ~43,000 mT of steel

International Mobile Deployment
Fujairah, United Arab Emirates
§  TPS1 system deployed to Fujariah Free Zone by
members of PS2 Management Team
§  Treatment of tank bottom sediment collected from
berthed oil tanker traffic.
§  Mixture of water and various long chain
hydrocarbons (asphaltenes and paraffins),
consisted almost exclusively of fine particulate
§  The was successful in completing that project and
several others at the same Facility.
Kazakhstan
§  TPS2 + TPS1 deployed for treatment of contaminated drill muds
and cuttings and processing sludge at an oil Facility in Central
Asia.
§  Deployed by members of PS2 Management Team.
§  In addition they were required to treating TPH contaminated
soils and sludges remaining from past failed landfarming and
bioremediation efforts.
§  The deployment lasted over 5 years.

quality oil with recovery rates above 70%
Block 10, Ecuador
§  TPS1 deployed for the treatment and recovery of SBM
contaminated drill muds and cuttings and base oil
§  Drill site located at Block 10 near Villano, Ecuador was a
helicopter site. All equipment, supply and personnel are
airlifted in and out.
§  The TPS equipment was transported in 18,000lb lifts
§  > 50,000mT treated over the two phases of the project to
<0.023%TOC
