His specialisation includes development and international economics. He has taught in the department since 1978 and is currently an associate professor. The two principal investigators have had a working relationship for over three years. Dr. Agrawal was a visiting scholar through a Shastri Canadian Studies Fellowship in the summer of 2002 and Dr. Siggel acted as his official host at Concordia University. Dr. Siggel visited the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) in December 2001, in pursuit of another project. Dr. Siggel has undertaken several studies of policy reforms and industry competitiveness in countries such as Senegal, Mali, Kenya, and Uganda, as well as one for India that covered the 1980s (The World Economy, 2001). The partner institution is led by Dr. Pradeep Agrawal. Dr. Agrawal has conducted extensive research in areas relevant to the present project and has published two books on policy reforms and economic restructuring in East Asia and India (published by Macmillan, London and St Martin’s Press, New York).
