Kokomo finished 3-2 at the Peru Invitational
The Wildkat wrestlers were 3-2 this weekend at the Peru
Super Six.
We beat Angola 51-16, Hamilton Heights 41-29, and Eastern
48-33. We lost to Oak Hill 45-30 and Peru 43-29.
Jabin Wright (113), DaShaun Barbary (170), and Nick Fox
(220) were all champions going 5-0 on the day.
T.T. Allen (138) and Gavin Herrera (195) were 4-1, while
Szhantrayle Roberson (145) was 3-2. He pinned the 14th
ranked wrestler from Peru and then bumped up to wrestle the
7th-ranked wrestler from Hamilton Heights and lost a tough
one.
As the regular season is starting to wrap up, we are seeing
lots of improvement. This Wednesday we wrestle TriCentral at home for our Senior Night. Come out and support
our Kats!
We will see you on the mat!
Coach Wells
This past weekend we had an exciting match up with our conference rival Logansport. The
Berries won 91-80.
I thought our guys brought a lot of energy and focus to the game and, if you are a fan of
basketball, you probably enjoyed the excitement and the speed of the game.
We did a lot of nice things defensively forcing 16 turnovers but we are unable to contain the
Logansport shooters as they connected on 14 three-point attempts.
Jordan Matthews led the way with 26 points and nine assists, while Ty Sparling added 12
points.
I look forward to the opportunity to get back on the court Tuesday night against rival
Western.

The ladies swam incredibly well on Saturday. Our 6th place finish doesn’t represent the 89%
time drops we had. The gals performed at or better than I expected for the end of our season.
We still see some technical things we can work on which is very encouraging. We know that
in just four short weeks we will be faster by sectionals. This group of gals saw lots of kiddos
that swim on a year round basis. Some of our kids are learning what it takes to be highly
competitive on the “big” stage. I am very excited for the future with this squad of gals.
Scoring points for our Lady Katfish:
200 Medley Relay (6th)-Addison Reckard, Madison Cleaver, Brooke Dill, Jessica Estep
200 Freestyle-16th Morgan Reecer
200 IM-12th Reckard

About 85% of our swims were at least season best times. The swimmers performed
very well and I think it’s an indication of what we are capable of at the end of the
season.
Proud to be a KATFISH!
Coaches Glick and Meck
The Lady Kats won’t play again until Saturday, when they see action in the North Central
Conference Tournament.
Kokomo will play at approximately 7:00 Saturday at Memorial Gym. The Wildkats will
play either Anderson or Logansport. Those two teams will play at 1:00 Saturday at
Memorial Gym for the right to face the Lady Kats.
Kokomo went 4-0 in the West Division of the North Central Conference to earn the No. 1
seed.
The Lady Kats scored the first six points of the game against Logansport and never trailed.
Kokomo held Logansport without a field goal in the first quarter. The Lady Berries were
0-for-7 from the field and had eight turnovers.
Logan’s only two points in the first quarter came on free throws.
The Lady Berries first field goal came at the 7:49 mark of the second quarter.
Both teams hit 33.3% from the field, but Kokomo had 63 attempts while Logan put up 45
shots.
Both Allie Lowe and Olivia Wilson had double digit rebounding efforts against
Logansport. Lowe had 12, and Wilson had a career high of 11. It was the second time this
season that the duo had recorded 10 or more caroms in the same game. In the Taylor game
earlier in the year, Lowe grabbed 14 and Wilson had 10. Allie Lowe now has five games
this season of 10 or more rebounds.
Kokomo’s bench had 18 points to five for Logan.
The Lady Kats had 24 points in the paint, while the Berries could muster eight.
The Lady Kats are now 5-4 in games played at Memorial Gym and 11-6 overall.
Sieara Langley and Allie Lowe are the only Lady Kats to have started every game this
year.
Six Wildkats – Sarah Tickfer, Kaila Stiner, Allie Lowe, Kennedy Curl, Olivia Wilson, and
Sierra Langley have played in every Kokomo game this season.
In the boys game between Kokomo and Logansport Friday night, there were six lead changes
and two ties in Logan’s 91-80 win. The Berries took the lead for good on a three-pointer by
Jalen Adaway with 7:17 left before halftime.
Logansport had 14 three-pointers in the game, the most ever against a Kokomo Wildkat boys
basketball team. The previous mark of 13 was held by four teams – New Castle (2009), Fishers
(2009), North Central (2005), and Elkhart Central (1994).
Logan’s 22 attempts were nowhere near the record for three-point attempts by a Kokomo
opponent. In the 1994-95 season, Lexington Henry Clay came to Memorial Gym and put up an
incredible 47 shots from behind the arc.
The 91 points scored by Logansport were the most ever scored by a Berry basketball team in the
173-game series. The previous best by a Logan team occurred in an 82-81 loss to the Wildkats
in the 1969 IHSAA tournament. Kokomo’s highest offensive output in the series came in the
Wildkat’s 1961 championship season. The Kats scored 95 to Logansport’s 70 in the middle of
three victories over the Berries that year.
Matt Jennings had 37 points for the Berries Friday night. It was the most by a Wildkat opponent
since Marion’s Tim Leavell hit for 38 last season.
Through 10 games this season, the Wildkats have scored more than 80 points three times.
Kokomo had 19 assists against Logan, a season high.
The Wildkats had two blocked shots against Logansport, one by Kyle Wade and the other by
Marcelle Kenner. It was the ninth straight game that the Kats had recorded a block.
Kokomo had just nine turnovers against Logansport, marking only the second time this year that
the Wildkats have had fewer than 10. The Kats had seven errors against Huntington North.
Ironically, both games ended in loss for Kokomo.
Logansport had 89 of their 91 points scored by their starters. Kokomo’s bench scored 12.
The Kats had 48 points in the paint to 22 for the Berries.
Kokomo grabbed 12 offensive rebounds, which led to eight second chance points for the Kats.
Logan had three offensive boards, which they turned into one point.
The Wildkats shot 17 free throws in the game; the Berries had 34 attempts.
