Article Presentation For this assignment, you are required to find a research or theoretical article related to various topics discussed in the textbook and present it to the class. Your article must relate to the topics being discussed for that particular week and class. The article must be a well-grounded theoretical exploration or a report of empirical research, that is, research in which data of some kind is gathered by the researcher. One week before your presentation, you must show me a copy of the article you plan to present so that I can approve (or reject) it. Therefore, I must receive via email a copy of the article you plan to use, one week (two class periods) before you present. Example: If you present on a Tuesday, you are to email me no later than the end of day the Tuesday before you present. If you present on a Thursday, you are to email me no later than the end of the day the Thursday before you present. On the day you present, please provide your classmates with a clear but brief summary of the article and then raise THREE questions for discussion. Your discussion questions should relate to the article, perhaps even opinion based. In order to facilitate your presentation, please prepare a ONE PAGE (no longer) handout for your classmates; the handout must contain the following: A complete bibliographical reference to your source (using APA style documentation) An indication/description of the following: o research context and participants o methodology for gathering data o data analysis o research results Please also include on your handout a list THREE questions for your classmates to discuss. You will be responsible for guiding the discussion. This means asking questions, getting conversation started, calling on students, etc. You are responsible for bringing 25 copies of your handout for the class. * Please use 12-point font, Times New Roman or Arial font, 1” inch margins only please! * Your presentation should be about 10-15 minutes long. This does not include the three discussion questions at the end. No PowerPoint is necessary for this presentation, unless you are using graphs or charts. It should be noted that you should not be simply reading off of your handout to the class. Lastly, please submit a copy of your article handout to me via Blackboard under the tab 'Presentations' → 'Article Handout - Submit Here' BEFORE you present. You will be graded as follows: 5 points: Emailing professor article 1 week prior to presentation AND submitting handout via Blackboard BEFORE presentation 5 points: 25 handouts for classmates WITH three discussion questions, no longer than 1 page, proper APA formatting at top 10 points: Presentation; student is knowledgeable about article, able to answer and discuss questions addressed to them, does not read directly off of handout, is able to relate article to textbook materials Here is a copy of what the grade sheet will look like: Article: Name: Presentation 5 6 7 8 9 10 Handout 0 1 2 3 4 5 Article Approval/Blackboard Submission 0 1 2 3 4 5 Comments: 0 1 2 3 4
